Just thought it was pretty cool.

Love the Moller Air Car, thanks for the link. Might have to get one for near-future games.

I think a Ford or Junker Tri-Motor has merit

This looks more suitable for a Buck Rogers/Flash Gordo type game. It is cool looking.

This 1/48th Revell looks quite suitable for 28 mm :

That describes that aircar toy – cute.
It is part of the Hot Wings collection.
I know because my 9yo collects Hot Wings among other aircraft lines of under $3 USD aircraft.
At best, it might be 1:100 scale, probably closer to 1:160.
Not very useful for gaming.

Not sure exactly what scale any of you are holding true to, but here goes.
If you need aircraft for pulp gaming, go to these places:
PMI
link
Franklin Mint
link
Squadron.Com
link
Flying Mule
flyingmule.com
Airplane Shop
airplaneshop.com
Historic Aviation
link
Lindberg Models
link
Aviation Models
link
Diecast Direct
link
Aircraft Models
aircraftmodels.com

And all of that does not count all of the OOP aircraft models you can pick up on eBay like Monogram's OOP 1:48 scale DC-3.

Actually, the real Air Car has a wingspan of 27.5', and the toy has a wingspan of between 3.5" and 4", depending on the site you look at. So that puts the toy between 1/82 and 1/94, close to HO scale, useful for 15mm (1/100).

My calculations, with the data I had access to, made it a bit smaller than you had, but that is okay.
1/115 BTW.
It would work okay for 15mm, yes.
No chance at all for 25-28mm though, and that is where most of us are at.

Did anyone find anything they could use at one of the other sites?
Hope so.
I have; I just do not have enough money to buy all of what I would like from them.

Ohhhh…. User7866… You nasty little man, you.

I'm try to use my money to make town/city eye candy for my players… and here you go dangling these aviation carrots before my hypersensitive nose.

Very, very, very nasty…

wink

Yeah, that's the problem with a lot of diecasts – the "ka-ching!" factor adds up fairly quickly.

The Moller Sky Car is a real thing, but has not flown yet. I want my Jetsons car!

That is a great miniature, I have one. They would be great for sci fi wargames, especially if you had a huge swarm of them.

The Sikorsky S38 and S39 are real and very pulp looking.

You are welcome Warren. :)

BTW, eBay has been a great source for me to get die-casts at considerably lower prices than the original price, and not just for aircraft.
I got my Pan-Am DC-3 for only $60 USD including S&H when its suggested retail price is $150. USD
I picked up the P-38 I wanted for only $30 USD including S&H when suggested retail is $80. USD
"Never get carried away bidding" and "there will always be another one down the road" are the two rules of my eBay bidding existence.
Keeps me from paying outrageous amounts for things that will be even less expensive later.
Truly decide ahead of time where your actual upper bid limit is;
do not be afraid to stick to it;
you will win eventually;
you may not win this month, but next month you might.

Now Number 6, find me either one of those aircraft or both in 1/43-/50 at a reasonable price, and I will be a very happy fellow.
Finding sea planes in ~1/48 is almost impossible these days.
40-50 years ago, I have been told more than once, it was a whole lot less difficult.
Does not help me now though.
What sea planes I would love in this scale are:
Sikorsky's S38, S39, S40 & S42.
Martin's M-130
Boeing's B-314
And that is just the American designs!
I could use a few British ones too.
Ugh!

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I just ordered the Moller Skycar.

I was wondering how it would scale for 15mm, and of course there was already a thread about it on TMP.

That's why I love this website.
