Hi all,

Since there has been a little interest expressed by a couple of people in my Charles Grant's Wargame project using Minden miniatures I thought I would just post a couple of pics to show what i'm doing to those that are interested. Will have to revive my blog I think!

A blurry photo of some test minis I painted last week – all pretty traditional colour schemes nicked from real nations, and on double size bases as I haven't received my Litko order yet :)

Anyway my 2 nations are:

The Hesse-Witten Freie Stadt – whose troops and uniforms will be based largely on the Hesse-Kassel and Prussian armies of the period, using Frank's Minden Prussians.

Proposed national flag:

Flag for IR17 'Prinz Hapnick':

The Marquisate of Valerno – who will be a Northern Italian nation which has been a flashpoint between France and the Holy Roman Empire for some time and which is currently under the influence of the former.

You have done a nice job of painting those figures. I look forward to seeing whole units one day.

Very nice- by an odd coincidence, I was reading my old copy of Charles Grant's book yesterday and thinking about how I could use my SYW figs for a re-do of Mollwitz as outlined in the book

Very pleasant troops and flags – extremely promising and making us looking eargerly forward for more!

The Northern Italian imaginary Marquisate is an enjoyable departure from the all-Germanic or 'major powers in disguise' Imagi-Nations. Roman Catholic, probably, so maybe soldiers in less stingy clothes and grenadiers with bearskins?

For sure you'll have to revive your blog!

Thanks for sharing, and cheers!

Joshua,
what about joining the 'Emperor vs Elector' "diplomatic" collective blog?

Nice looking troops, look forward to seeing more, looks like Marquisate of Valerno will be a neighbor of Cavenderia, we are the Dalmatian coast.

Very, Very nice!!!

Thanks for the positive feedback all, I shall make an effort to get a blog going on these nations and their progress.

@Frederick – You must let us know how that comes along, and take pictures! I will be very happy the day I have enough troops to refight Mollwitz myself.

@abdul666lw – I would indeed be interested in joining 'Emperor vs Elector', though I am not sure how often I would be able to contribute.

As to the Marquisate, yes they will indeed be Roman Catholic, but I am currently undecided on which of the Minden range to use to represent them.

Nice.
Do you mean you're going to rebase them?

The Picktree Brag23 Jan 2009 11:59 a.m. PST

Yes. Those figures in the picture were just tests really, the first proper regiment is being painted now and its figures are going to be individually mounted on 15mm x 20mm bases.

To join the "Emperor vs Elector" group blog, please contact me at . . . bluebear@uniserve.com . . . and don't worry, not all members are active all the time.

I do also urge you to have your own blog (or two -- one for each imagi-nation).
