I have seen some not-very-distinct photos of Turkish troops of the Greek-Turkish war of the early 1920s, wearing what appears to be a fez, that is somewhat wider at the top than at the bottom. Did this headgear replace the "Kalabak" of World War One, or were both worn concurrently?

Both were worn during the Greco-Turk war of the 1920s. I have plenty of photos from various Greek and Turkish books showing both being worn.

It's a peaked cap without the peak as Ataturk got rid of the fez. It has a arm of service colored band and a cresent and star badge.

Both were worn by the Turkish Republicans. Also German WWI helmets.

I now possess the Osprey Men at Arms title on the Greek-Turkish War. Turkish uniform details aplenty:)

When in doubt, always buy the Osprey! Preferably from me!
