I'm wanting to try a game set in the far future (really far) where few humans are left, and wars are fought with massive armies of robots commanded by a small cadre of human officers.

I'm gonna need several hundred robots to make this work. Any ideas?

Boy have I got a deal for you (ducks!)

Risk 2210 A.D. I have painted the minis up, and they look great. The MODs (robots) come in three different styles, and the smallest is about 16mm tall. You can get the game at Toys R us for, IIRC, $40, and cheaper online, and I think you get about 400 figs.

Hope that helps.

BTW: Are you planning to do this with your OPUS system? The premise of the game sounds very intriguing. Kinda Utopian (people aren't getting killed, just machines wrecking each other) but a little scary (sounds like a LOT of nasty robots running around). I'd like to hear more.

Those are cool too. Also these from the same website, if you like the sinister, terminator look

That's why I come back to TMP. Thanks a lot guys! Since I need a lot of figs to do this, I think the Risk figs might be good to bulk up the army, with the Alternative Armies minis thrown in for elite and specialist units. Again, thanks for the help!

Inquisitor: Yes, I probably will use OPUS to do this, and I have an OPUS RPG adventure almost ready to go on the same subject.

Also, for some inexpensive variety, Mega make some cool robot packs:

They're 25mm overall but a lot would work as command units, personalities, giant robots etc.

ZeroGee221 Jan 2009 9:53 a.m. PST

Take a look also at some of the mecha units in our 2mm range, which work great for more human-sized robots in 15mm!

In particular, GMM-41 and 42 on this page:

We also have our MAWP combat drones in 15mm, codes V15-22, 23, 24 etc, here:

….plus some more walker drones (V15-46A/B) and UAV drone VTOL gunship (V15-48B) here:

Hope these are of some use!

Thanks everybody! Gives me a lot to choose from.

You might also want to check out the Risk Transformers variant. The Hasbro site allows you to buy the robotic army pieces in the spare parts section very cheaply.

Cheers,

Yep. Hie thee to the Hasbro site, as you can buy replacement parts for many of their games— like Risk:2210 and others— for a few bucks for a bagful.

JRacel22 Jan 2009 4:20 a.m. PST

I just bought all the items listed by Mark for Robots in my 15mm ranks to play Force on Force by Ambush Alley. They look great for that purpose.

DSM-139: AT-71 Hound Dog Infantry Walkers – pack of 6

DSM-140:AT-71B Hound Dog Support Walker Heavy support versions of Standard Hound Dog, with mix of missile packs and heavy cannon – pack of 6

I biught several packs of DSM-139 as standard infantry and the DSM-139 will fill in the support weapons role.

Looks like Hasbro no longer lists parts for Risk:2210. That was a killer idea!

Anybody make some that would be good TALON/SWORDS-types for 15mm? GZGs MAWPs are excellent, but big.

See that? See what he did there?! It's Bleeped text like this that has me selling off all my 28mm scifi and making all sorts of fiddly lists and plans for 15mm scifi. And that's not even beginning to address Vietnam, Afghanistan, WW2…
