I remember seeing the first book in bookstores back in the day; I liked the premise, but I never ended up reading it. |

I read them and enjoyed them when they came out, and reread them from time to time. |

Ooh, and I though I was the only one that tinkered with Aztec history
although my Zulu War British are more VSF than Romans |

Yes – quite good from both Roman and Aztec POV. The Aztecs are really only in the New Barbarians though. |

read the second years ago, couldn't get the others. Bit stronger is a book I think was called the Aztec Century, where Aztec "dreamers" pinched tech from the various alternate realities to keep their empire able to conquer the world after the Spanish Conquest failed due to diseases brought back to Spain from the Americas. Also there was King of the Golden Wood and Wheels of If which both had successful Norse settlement giving the local cultures time to get used to tech at a pace matching ours so Indian and Aztec nations still existed and, in the case of King of the Golden Wood the Aztecs were a strong power |

thinking about it, I may be getting part of the aztec Canturyy mixed up with the plot of the Crystal Empire which is a bit more fantastical |
