When I gamed in Napoleonics in the 1980's using Staddens and Willy figures, we had a limited choice of artillery. HR miniatures (?) made French metal equipment of 8 pounders, limbers, Wurst wagons and ammunition caissons, and also a nice British 9 pdr with limber and caisson. But these seemed rather fragile, and perhaps too small for the Staddens. Later I bought a couple of 25mm guns – Peter Guilder figures is I recall – but never assembled and painted them. They were bulkier, but more "squat." Does anyone have a preference in today's 28 mm series for artillery, limbers, caissons and the like – for French/Spanish Gribeauval system 4's and 8's for Peninsular use. Also for British long 6 pdrs; 6 pdr horse artillery; and 9 pdrs. Has anyone ever seen side-by-side comparisons of different manufactures on the internet? GdeP |

The whole Elite Miniatures range is 30mm, in my book at least, even though they are listed as 28mm. The artillery pieces are large and I think that you will like them. They fit in well with Gilder's artillery pieces (I think that both artillery ranges were done by the same sculptor). I give my highest recommendation to the Elite range of cannon and accessories. |

Elite Guns are indeed lovely, and large! My favourite pieces are the 7 years war models- really lovely sculpting The connoissuer guns are a bit smaller, the British models are particularly good. Calpe's Prussian pieces are
.like Mary Poppins? Practically perfect in every way? Bicorne have some interesting bits – particularly Russian- caissons, engineer wagons and IIRC a russian 6pdr on s sled! |

Mirliton also makes some LARGE artillery pieces (and have the detail to back it up). |

Great responses from you all! I shall look into them: Elite Miniatures; Connoisseur; Calpe; and Bicorn. Many thanks, and Happy New Year to you all. GdeP |

You might also want to take a look at Hinchcliffe's 'Super Gun' range. While listed as 25mm, they are actually much nearer to 30mm in size! |

>>>You might also want to take a look at Hinchcliffe's 'Super Gun' range. While listed as 25mm, they are actually much nearer to 30mm in size!<<< We used Hinchliffe "30mm" French (12pdr & 8 pdr) and a British (5/5?) howitzer for our Stadden & Willie 1740-63 armies back in the 70s~80s. Also used Hinchliffe 25mm Nap arty as battalion guns. Perhaps these are still produced in this "Super Gun" range mentioned above? |

Is it possible to obtain Elite's various artillery pieces w/o the crew? I need 30mm artillery pieces for a project I'm doing. Thanks to all who respond. Russ |

Yes, you can buy the Elite guns as separate items. He also sells battery packs at a discount and these packs include the crew. But yes, guns are sold separately. |

Thanks Der Alte Fritz for the information. Triangle Miniatures carries both Elite and Front Rank ranges. Which artillery pieces are larger; Elite or Front Rank? The figures I'm using are a very very true 30mm. Thanks again, Russ |

Elite are larger than Front Rank. |
