I'm interested in the uniforms and flags for the troops of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. No, not Murat's Neoplitan half, the Sicillian half that stayed free with British help.

I've looked in the ususal places and have drawn a blank – if push come to shove I'll just use Spanish but I'd like to get thinks right – I'm wanted to put together some games from 1813-14 in Italy and want a change from using Austrians so Anglo-Sicillians sounded fun.

In Otto von Pivka's "Armies of the Napoleonic Wars" (ISBN 0-8008-5471-3) he states that in 1792- 1806 "All uniform details very much as for Austria and Spain." Red cockade.

A change in 1814 after the Kingdoms are united "…at which time uniforms with British flavour were introduced with red tunics, shoulder wings, white lace and buttons for the guard; similar details but with dark blue, single breasted coat for line infantry. Officers' sashes were red and silver"

Unfortunately my Knotel's "Uniforms of the World" does not mention this kingdom.

Hope this helps!

I have uniform information (facings, etc) from 1806 or so, a little earlier than what you want…

I am sur you can find it on the web,

I'd go dig out my notes from when I painted up Bentinck's force for eastern Spain and Italy years ago. I think I got some of the information I used from an old article in "Empires, Eagles & Lions", possibly by Haythornthwaite. But Steven Thomas has laid out pretty much the same information that I had found, here on his site:
