I once spent a week up in Nevada photographing ghost towns with my anthropology professor. Times change, gold/silver runs out, and people move on. Interestingly, several of the old mines that closed when gold was $6 USD an ounce in 32 have been reopened since it is now profitable to go in and get it out of the ground. We in the US tend to be a highly mobile population. Perhaps in 50 to 100 years a lot of major cities here will be aproaching ghost town status. Imagine going into a ghost town Vegas.
