I am in the process of attempting to construct a D10 driven AT table to add to my RF House Rules. I have already added the usual ammendments to my House Rules (i.e. Coy morale, no grenades, etc, etc) and I am now ready to tackle the AT table. It is my general understanding that other RF players have implemented a D10 table and it has proven to be successful in a simulation and a playability context.

My first step is to establish some parameters for both the Gun Class and Armour Class. Off the top of my head I have come up with the following parameters:

Gun Class:

Class 1 – 14.5mm (i.e. SU PTRD1941 AT Rifle)
Class 10 – 128mm (i.e. GE Jagdtiger)

Armour Class:

Class A – Motorcycle/Softskin vehicles
Class J – Hvy Tanks (SU IS 1/2/3)

Comments or suggestions from other RF players and the board would be appreciated. If other RF! players have attempted this and it has proven to be a complete waste of time please let me know and I will adopt a 'If it ain't broke don't fix it' attitude.

For A Group I was a member of who were doing a 1940 campaign I suggested a 1940 orientated regrading. Still using the D6 chart. Something like:

Gun class

6 – The 88
5 – 75/77mm medium velocity guns like the french 75 or Russian guns.
4- 2pdr, russian 45 mm other simmilar
3- Normal 37mm guns
2 – Short 37mm, 20mm autocannons
1 – A/T rifles, K bullets (short range only)

Armour

A- KV-1 the Monster thick armour.
B- Matilda 2 all about 8cm
C- Matilda 1, Char B, Valentine, 6cm +
D – Early Stug T-34 allabout 4-5 cm armour the light cannon proof
E- Most of the tanks with about 3cm of armour, the HMG proof
F- The bullet proof only, all about 1.5-2cm

The problem came when I suggested the Matilda 2 should be the same cost as a Churchill with a 6pdr in the un-modded rules, as they came out at exactly the same Armour and Gun Class and I said, therefor they should cost the same!

They didn't want to buy that for some reason.

No specific comments but as a long time Rapid Fire/Rapid Fire 2nd Edition player I would be VERY interested in seeing your charts! I have long believed Rapid Fire would be an even better game with gun classes from 1-10 and Armor A-J. One can do the charts with either the old D6 system to include modifiers OR really do it right with the D10. Might even work with the old modifiers as they are with a D10.

Maybe something for RF3?

Can I put in a plea for my fave tank, TIGER 1E? Why oh why has it got an armour rating of B? Perhaps with your idea it can get a rating better reflecting its survivability…Please let us knwo what you come up with.
As a general point, I feel that these rules make it far to easy to kill infantry once they have gone to ground. It should be well nigh impossible to kill such infantry without the use of mortars, arty or grenades.

Thanks for the feedback fellas. I plan on on putting a draft classification system together and will post it within the next few weeks for review/comments.

I will initially only focus on GE & US forces and wil subsequently inject UK & SU forces at a later date.
