In London presently. Are there any gamey stores I should see whilest I'm in town?

Is Orc's Nest still in business? If so, they're worth a look. Forbidden Planet is/was a good Sci-Fi bookstore when I was there in '88.

While we're at it, does anyone know if Mac's Model's is still in business in Edinburgh?

I'll second Orcs Nest and Forbidden Planet. Both are still in business and going strong.

There is also Leisure Games, Ballards Lane, Finchley, which is worth a visit, albeit a bit out of the centre.

Forbideen Planet is not big on games, but the new store in Shaftesbury Avenue is worth visiting if interested in Sci-Fi.

Orc's Nest and Forbidden Planet are both okay, but the best gaming shop in Central London is Playin' Games on Museum Street near the enterance to the British Museum. It's about 5mins walk from tottenham court road tube station.

Also remember that Forbidden Planet has moved from it's old site on New Oxford Street and is now in a 'Megastore' location at the top of Shaftsbury avenue.

Went bust years ago.

Went completely to the dogs years before that.

I have been to London several times and always have found it tough to find gamimg miniatures, particularly historical, unless I want to go to a Games Workshop type place. For visitors the best way to buy figures is at one of the many gaming conventions. I usually send them in an order and ask to have it available for pick up at a convention. Saves postage and duty too.

Playin' Games is cool, but the interesting bits (They would be the "not board games" bits) are absolutely not disabled accessible.

This has come up in other threads and I don't think there's many games shops left in London - you could try Navwar, the 6mm people, based at Electric Parade in Essex, but you need to catch a train from Liverpool Street Station to get there.

Couple just outside of London - The Guard Room in Dunstable, the Model Shop in Harrow.
