Things are moving quickly in our Plains War Campaign and we have another battle this Wednesday. THE BATTLE OF BISON VALLEY 3 Companies of the 4th Cavalry led by the daring Colonel Mackenzie will try to move past a blocking force of 4 Northern Cheyenne warbands led by the crafty warchief – Lame White Man. Mackenzie's command made a bold dash to attack and cut-off the Indian villages only to be cut off themselves. They are tyring to fight their way back into supply and join the rest of their command, before too many Indians arrive on the scene. Taunting has been at a minimum after the last battle where the cavalry was smashed. Eric Burgess |

Can you refresh my memory as to how many figures you're fielding in this game? And how long did this turn take to play out in real time? |

IIRC, he's using 4 stands of 2 figs each. Each unit is a troop/company or warband. He is using Pk's Din of Battle 2 for the rules. My favorite regular PK set although I now prefer Field of Battle. I have been taking a look at it for use in Pony Wars. Thinking about each warband group having it's own Army morale. Eric, did you have any pics of the first battle? I don't recall seeing any. Thanks, John |

Hi John, I did get photos of the first battle, but there was little terrain on the field so they don't look great. I haven't touched them up either, but if you want them I can send them to you. With regards to unit sizes. Each units starts with 4 stands. Each 'stand' is a single figure, which gives you a very small unit to ground scale. The last battle took about 1.5 hours with about double the forces. I expect this one to take 1.5 hours or less once we have rated the units and army characterization deck. In the first game the Indians got an extra Missile Reload card, which didn't play a big factor. The cavalry rolled up a skilled commander which gave them a Brilliant Leader card which was used to good effect several times during the battle. Cheers! Eric |

Colonel Mackenzie was expected back by now. We have heard nothing from him in over 24 hours. We will send scouts out to find him and his 3 companies. Eric |

It is with sad news that we have found the remains of the 3 companies of the 4th cavalry scattered around Bison Valley. They have been scalped and all weapons and ammunition have been taken. None survived. Colonel Ranald Mackenzie was found scalped and naked. His body was mutilated. We will find these hethens and bring them to justice! Nearly 150 men have perished. Remember the 4th!!!
