Are they useful as painting guides/uniform references? I have some Valiant Miniatures to do grin

They are really designed to be a point of purchase impulse item at musems and such. Very well designed and nice looking, but probebly not enough for you to use for painting. I'd recommend you spend a bit more and get something with some more meat in it.

and yes, it is a bit short for painting but could be a nice starter. Inside you will find a picture of infantryn engineer, artillery crew man uniforms…

To anwser your question – Yes!

If you are looking for more detailed information then I would also say invest in somthing more conclusive.

I own most of the books they put out, and I love them. The smaller ones are meant as a mini-guides, but the larger ones are much more informative.

At the price, you cant beat them…

For instances, the "Soldiers in Normandy – The Germans" has color pictures of full body shots complete with gear:

Kriegsmarine costal gunner
Grenadier
Tank crewman
Kriegsmarine salor
Waffen SS tank crewmen
Panzergrenadier
Artilleryman
Fallschirjager
Tank killer infantryman
Waffen SS Panzergernadier
Tank destroyer officer
Luftwaffe Field jager
Fighter Pilot
Medic

Not to mention all the smaller color and B&W photos.

I picked up all of their books I could find, very informative.

If you would like more information on the let me know.

Hope that helps :)

I own these book too. For wargaming puposes, the colour photos offer a good introduction to the uniforms.
