I'm starting another small campaign in WH:AA with a company of soldiers being led by a seasoned Captain with a grudge against the Giantfolks who destroyed his village when he was just a mere lad. (or in book time about 3 pages ago)

I'd like 26 or 28mm monsters. I'm not truely concerned about the Giants or Ogres as far as sculpting style but for the trolls I really, really, really like the old AD&D trolls… green skinned, mossy haired regenerating thingies that were nigh impossible to kill and anywhere's from 7 to 9 feet tall. Those I really have a hankering for… so could you direct me to some good stores that offer them or perhaps if you've got a bunch of giant/kin moldering on your desk… let me know.

thanks all.

Otherworld makes an awesome old school troll & giants:

Wizards of the coast makes some servicable trolls in their plastics line. I recommend ebay for picking up singles.

There are several OOP Ral Partha / grenadier / citadel/ TSR / Heritage AD&D troll models from the 80s and early 90s still in circulation. eBay is the best source for these.

Good luck.

Reaper has some giants and trolls available in their various ranges.

As Mostly Harmless mentioned, Otherworld has some great looking old school monsters and giants.

I'll add another reccomendation for Otherworld – I've only got a couple of their miniatures, but they're excellent, and the service is good, too.

The D&D Chainmail series and the current pre-painted plastic D&D miniatures are another potential source, if you don't mind the plastics. You can find most of the single figures (relatively) cheaply on Ebay.

I have packs of Ogres from IWM that are the old Ral Partha Sculpts. Also have giants from Reaper that Thane had in stock that would be below retail, so let me know…

Old Glory produces a little-known fantasy range under the label Ghost Miniatures.

Here's a link to photos:

However, if you need to order them, go to this site (Old Glory's official site)and save yourself a lot of hassle:

D&D has a fantastic Hill Giant Barbarian, the other two hill giants from them are ok but not as good.
Old Glory also has a father giant type figure called the Broken One, he's in the Dwarf Wars line.

I really like the GW plastic ogres. They are some of the best figs GW has ever done I think. They are priced pretty nicely as well.

If you are willing to mess with rebasing and aren't afraid of ebay you might try some of the old Dreamblade savage ogres. They can be found for as little as $.50 USD apiece in online stores that sell remaining singles.

It's about 5 cm tall crouching at the knees and ducking his head. Eye level is about 38mm-40mm in that pose.

They look pretty good even prepainted though they might be more "troll like" than "ogre like" in D&D terms.

The Murderous Berserker makes a great fiendish frost giant. It's also avaiable cheaply online as a single.

This mutated dude could be anything from a Demon Lord to chaos giant to an Epic Ettin to…I dunno. He's HUGE

picture

This is a rhino headed giant with a stone club. He is also HUGE.

picture

This could be an ogre changed by chaos or the touch of the far realms.

I'd buy direct from Otherworld BEFORE the pound rallies against the dollar if you are in the US. It is like they are on sale for 30% off!

Look at the Moor Troll from Reaper miniatures, Regrebnelle provided a link to their site. The mini has a ODnD look about it.

Mr Brightside03 Apr 2009 2:36 p.m. PST

I recommend you check out miniaturegiant.com they offer free shipping anywhere in the US and have pretty much every Reaper mini ever made. The reaper Dark Heaven line is perfect for RPG's they have a lot of Giants, trolls, dragons, elves, etc.
