I wanted to buy something but couldn't decide what so I took my young son's advice and bought a box of Necrons from a Games Workshop store. I don't collect them but thought about how I could use them for an existing Imperial Guard army. What I came up with was a range of building clearance robots that would 'count as' a Sternguard veteran squad from the Spacemarine lists (as this would make them pretty tough with a wide range of different weapon options). I wanted them to be a prototype unit so each one would be armed differently for the purpose of testing what works best. Anyway
enough nattering, here are the Beetle-bots: picture picture picture picture and if you are interested in how they were made, here is a how to: picture picture picture All in all they were quite fiddly to make but in my mind, were worth the effort. I hope you like them :). |

Looks like a lot of work, but they turned out darn cool. |

Very nice! I just painted mine like Terminaters in silver with a wash & call them Imperial Robots (ala Rouge Trader) |

I assume you mean Rogue Trader as I wasn't aware of any red shaded traders. lol |

I would be too apprehensive to slice-and-dice like you did. The results are great though. |

Dude those are exellent! I modified twelve of those miniatures to make RIFTS Coalition Skelebots. Your idea is a lot cooler, and your execution great. |

I assume you mean Rogue Trader as I wasn't aware of any red shaded traders. lol They're not red-shaded, but their stock in trade is cosmetics. |

Most excellent! It looks like it definitely requires some skill, but the results are great. |

Very cool! Could use them as Adeptus Mechanicus type android deals. |

Very cool idea. They look fantastic. I was looking for something to make a Robot warband for my Post Apocalyptic games! This idea is ideal. I will be giving this a bash as I have a box of necrons languishing in the bits box. Cheers and thanks for sharing. |

Most ingenious! More work than I'm up to (with a total of 10 thumbs) but they'll look fantastic on the table. |

Very nice. I may have to try a variation of this for my superhero games. I have been killing myself trying to find insect-themed minions for my criminal super organization and these may fit the bill. Perhaps my criminal mastermind needs robots instead of flesh and blood minions? |

If you are using them for regular sized robots, there would be no reason to chop the legs down so it would be an easier job to convert them. |

very imaginative and great conversions. Might just take another look at the Necrons (are they still metal?) |
