I have a question about the Berdan Sharpeshooter figure from Redoubt. He has something strapped to his backpack. Is it a tent half and peg or a waterproof gum blanket?

Maybe it's his oboe. I hear oboe players get all the girls.

It's a special cooking set that was designed for the Sharpshooters. Check out my painted Redoubt Sharpshooters here

nice. I have a thoing for them (as my wife supposedy had a relative in one of the Vermont units).

I find it interestingt that originally they were issued with gray overcoats, so that when it was cold (and nothing green was out) they would be in nicely blended gray.
Of course this was stopped very quickly due to obvious reasons.

I want to paint some up, but I can't really figure out how they would be used on the tabletop.

jgawne,

Possibly some rules could be added to Brother Against Brother or other skirmish rules to include individuals. Though, Berden's Sharpshooters did operate as line infantry mostly (I think). Someone can chime in here.

Guys,

Having checked through the Don Troiani's books and compared his artwork and the photograph of a 'Forest Green regulation Frock Coat' I'm looking to use Vallejo Deep Green (970) for my 10mm Berdan's Sharpshooters. I was wondering what anyone else who is using Vallejo colours would suggest?

Cheers,

Inverugie
