I have posted 24 pictures of my annual Old School Wargamers Big Battalion Game on my blog, Der Alte Fritz Journal at the following link:

altefritz.blogspot.com

The game was played on two 6ft by 30ft wargame tables, running parallel in the manner used by the Wargame Holiday Centre in the UK. It featured nearly 2,500 infantry and 800 cavalry and God only knows how much artillery. The scenario was borrowed from Longstreet's attack on the Round Tops and the Peach Orchard, with terrain features' names changed and some subtle substitution of towns for the Peach Orchard and Little Round Top, etc.

The French, like Mister Sickles, deployed on the high ground and paid dearly for the subsequent Prussian attack. Although I do believe that the French gave a better accounting of themselves than did Sickles as they put up a very stought resistance.

We had a great time with 10 players and an endless amount of game table space to maneuver our huge 60 man infantry battalions and our 36 to 60 figure cavalry regiments.

Take a look at the link provided, and be sure to click on each picture to see an enlarged view.

best regards,

Fritz

Bravo, well done. I believe it would even have been fun to have been on the losing side.

The phrase from Forrest of "get there first with the most" only works if your "getting there first" is with "the most". A lesson that is often learned and relearned, it appears that the French learned it this time.

Ioannis!
We would welcome your attendance in 2009 – back in the area again – as we've discussed off list. Twelve months to plan Sir,
