I agree Alte Fritz was one of the first blogs I came across when starting in the SYW period. Very interesting stuff and very knowledgable. Hope you enjoy SYW period as much as I do it is my main historical period now. If you need any additional sites I would check out groups.yahoo.com/group/syw the seven years war group at yahoo.

I really enjoy DAF's blog a lot and have read through most of the back posts. The work is beautiful and the Teddy Bear episodes add just the right touch of humor! Minden Minis is another inspirational Blog to check out – between the two of them I have redirected from 15mm to 28mm SYW!

Your Blog is sweet too Faust – it's nice to see GW and Historicals living side by side. Mine tend to get along just fine! Although they are displayed on opposite sides of the gaming room. :)

Back at you Faust – I like your brush work on the knights. And thanks (blush, aw shucks) for the compliments. If you have any SYW questions, just ask on TMP or drop me a line at my blog in the comments box.

Well thanks to all of you. I just got back from a 3 day business trip and saw all of your kind posts.

Since I'm a SYW virgin, you bet I'll take y'all up on your offers of advice.

Agree with all of the above – Faust23 – man, your work on the knights and fantasy stuff – wow!

Der Alte Fritz is one of a kind – corresponded with him back when you actually had to write a letter and mail it and he always responded graciously and patiently to every and any question.

Bravo to both of you fine gentlemen!

Thanks Swampking, you are too kind.

The DBA knights are what you are referring to? Or is it the Empire Knights?

My favorite is my Maximillian I in 15mm. I hand painted the Habsburg double-headed eagle on both sides of his barding. No two Landsknecht models are the same either.

Now if I could just find people to play with who don't live under bridges….

Faust,

Both! I'm not that 'detailed' of a painter [not much time or skill] but as a blogger stated [if he's on here – he can chime in, otherwise I can't remember that fine gentleman's name] 'that does not take away the pleasure I see in wonderfully painted miniatures' or something to that effect.

Maximillian is in 15mm? Wow – you're extremely detailed [sounds better than obsessive :)].

I'm doubly impressed.

I understand the frustration that comes from having painted minis, terrain, etc. [including cold beer!] and no one wants to play historicals. Livng in Poland is not good for historical players – now, if you play Warhammer or some fantasy stuff – you've got a partner in crime! Unfortunately, I can't seem to get into the fantasy stuff -too old I guess.

Cheers!

Yeah, I know what you mean about historicals and the dearth of players.

All of my German's & Austrians shown on my blog are in 15mm. I don't know if I'll ever be that good again, frankly. As I've gotten older, for some reason the minis have gotten smaller….
