We gathered at Duncan's "man-cave" for yet another monthly game. This time it was my Balaclava (1854; Crimean War) re-fight with two twists. The first twist was that this game postulated that after the Light Brigade took their lumps the British and French and Turks counter-attacked in the afternoon to retake the entire position lost in the morning. Thus the allies moved round the now-Russian position and attacked. The allies tried as hard as they could but darkness fell and the counter-attack was not a success. The SECOND twist is that this was not Balaclava but was a disguised scenario. The terrain was really the second day of Gettysburg!! It was great fun. Here are the photos: hmgs-midsouth.blogspot.com |

Nice setup. I like those big units. It takes a lot of painting but it is worth it in the end. |

Nice to see someone gaming the Crimea. It doesn't seem to be one of the more popular periods among wargamers for some reason. |
