We gathered at Duncan's "man-cave" for yet another monthly game. This time it was my Balaclava (1854; Crimean War) re-fight with two twists. The first twist was that this game postulated that after the Light Brigade took their lumps the British and French and Turks counter-attacked in the afternoon to retake the entire position lost in the morning. Thus the allies moved round the now-Russian position and attacked. The allies tried as hard as they could but darkness fell and the counter-attack was not a success. The SECOND twist is that this was not Balaclava but was a disguised scenario. The terrain was really the second day of Gettysburg!! It was great fun. Here are the photos:

Nice setup. I like those big units. It takes a lot of painting but it is worth it in the end.

Nice to see someone gaming the Crimea. It doesn't seem to be one of the more popular periods among wargamers for some reason.
