The staff of Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy magazine have mentioned Crisis as "possibly the most important show in Europe." Which European wargaming show do you think is the most important? (Define "Europe" as meaning "continental Europe") |

To be honest as a Brit Crisis is the only continental show that I'm really aware of, so yes it would seem the prime contender to me. (Unless we're accomodating boardgames not just miniatures, in which case Spiel in Essen almost certainly bags it.) |

Does Salute count? VR James Mattes |

If they say Continental Europe, Crisis. But if they include UK then it would be Salute. |

Crisis is the bigger in the north, while Dadicom, in Italy(a show I organize, now in its 9th edition) is the bigger in the south. Both have a similar attendance, but due to the position of Anwerp, this collects a more international attendance. Dadicom takes place at Crema, near Milan Direct link dadiepiombo.com/dadieng.html This year we will have our first trader from the US, Hoplite Research. Another important continental show is Action, in Germany. Worth to mention are also two youger shows like Toutatis (excellent games) near Paris, that in 2009 will see a bigger edition (new venue closer to the city) and Hamburger Tactica (Germany). |

Does Spiel in Essen have a noticeable wargames component? |

I guess it would be ''salute '' as the Uk is still in Europe .. |

Which would be an excellent point if the original question hadn't specifically said "Define "Europe" as meaning "continental Europe"

Sadly Spiel doesnīt have much wargaming. Of course GW, FOW and a few other major publishers are there but thatīs it for table top wargaming. Board wargames can be find from quite a number of dealers. It is mostly Euro Games orientated with a special section for RPGs. Still it is definitely worth a visit. |

is it Salute ;-]]] Of course the UK is part of Continental Europe, you chaps have forgotten the Channel Tunnel. But for the record " Crisis" in Belgium appears to be the most accessable show in MAINLAND EUROPE, its not too bad a journey from the Channel ports, or from Zeebruge. The show is well organised by the awfully nice chaps from TSOA, and attracts a good selection of games and traders. Plus you get to spend a long weekend in Belgium, drinking from a rather fine selection of local beers. |
