I am making a fictional SYW army. I have noticed that there are many imaginations out there. What do the majority of you do with your fictional amries. Do you field entire armies from with your fictional troops or do the majority of you use them as auxilary troops within a historical army? I am thinking of basing my army as a break-away papal army i.e. breaking from the Austrian empire, so they would most likely fight with the Prussians and Hanovarians. Just curious as to what you guys and do you find resistance from players who field historical OOB fighting you? thanks, |

No problem should both of you choose to play "fantasy armies". The problem would be if one player tries to adhere to a known "army list" and the "fantasy player" simply fields units of his choosing, e.g. all grenadiers and or Garde du Corps. |

I paint my principal armies as Austrians and Prussians, but call them the armies of The Imperium and Hesse Seewald. This way, if I ever want to sell the armies, then the buyer will be able to buy Austrians and Prussians for SYW gaming. If you use the individual basing system and movement trays, you could even have two different sets of flags for each battalion. One is its historical flag and the other set can be the fantasy flags. |

At the risk of blowing my own trumpet, may I direct you link where my own imagi-nation interacts with the real historial world. (although so far primarily Napoleonic) |

From the Age of Marlborough through to 1806 the troops of the Grand Duchy of Nordmark are uniformed and organized like their principal Ally – Prussia. Except for the Nordmark Scots Guards battalions who are garbed in traditional Highland dress. After the disaster of 1806 – Nordmark troops were fighting with the Prussians – the young Elector joined Nordmark to the Confederation of the Rhine and emulated the French in uniforms and tactics. |

My very small imagination is currently involved in the WSS. Since I use 15mm figs and 'Might and Reason' they are based as 1 unit each of Horse, Dragoons and Foot, representing 2 regiments of Horse, 2 of Dragoons and 4 regiments (battalions) of Infantry. At this scale of game they are indistiguishable from the many units of 'German' troops who fought for the Maritime Powers so simply function as another minor German state. Pete |

For the few units that I have that are imagination-based, I use them within existing armies Good thing about SYW, there were so many small German states it is hard not to find a uniform that matches something |

Fantastic thanks for the input. I believe the history of Cavenderia is as follows. Irish immigrants from Caven county Ireland moved to the German states area forming the small state of Cavenderia throwing in with the Austrian empire and the french. I will add this to my blog. cavenderia.blogspot.com thanks, |
