No, not those orphans. What I'm wittering about are threads where the OP asks a question, or for advice, – "are Gonzo Figs a good match with Lemming Minis?", "What was the turnback colour of the 13th Foot & Mouth during the War of Jenkin's Ear?" A few replies are posted, but the OP is never heard from again on the thread. It's an orphan. Why? I've explored a few theories – alien abduction, stolen computers, realllllllly bad ADD – but I'm still a bit puzzled. After all, if you aren't that bothered why go to the trouble of starting the thread? Thanks in advance for your replies, I may even make the effort revisit this thread with a further comment |

Agreed, it's irksome. Even a "Thanks guys" after a day or so would be nice. Especially since an online community like TMP thrives on the helpfulness and courtesy of its posters. Those posters just weren't brought up right. Probably never sent thank-you cards for presents, either. I blame their Moms. Philistines. |

I alway attempt to put in the thank you on the last day. I can see how someone would not do so for fear it would stop the thread. Not a good reason, but the best I could come up with. Vince |

Vince, so you say, "Thanks guys, keep them coming." I do it all the time, and it doesn't kill the thread. |

I suppose it could be considered rude, but I really trying to say that the OP doesn't reappear to ask any supplementary questions Such as: OP "WoJE 13 F&M turnback colours?" Helpful Reply "Green" OP "Do you know what shade of green?" My money's on alien abduction. The poor sap was probably sitting at his keyboard ready to fire off another question when *bright light* anal probe. :( |

Somebody here must have been abducted by aliens
.after all there over 5,000 members from the US
and something like 10% of your countrymen believe they have been abducted by beings from another world
sooooo..statistically there must be a few folk here who can tell us all about the bright lights and the probing,
.? |

@ Christot I could so make a list of TMP members I suspect were abducted. Or even replaced a la The Body Snatchers. Unfortunately the Dawghouse stops me. |

Well, perhaps we should ask for volunteers? |

Because their mother did not raise them well. They were never taught to say "Thank you." |

I think part of it is ADD or a TMP bug. I started a thread a while back and cant find it to see what the answer was. Very frustrating. I agree us OPs should go back to a thread from time to time and acknowledge the information provided. |

Expressing thanks for services rendered is a common courtesy. On the other hand, so often the responses to original postings are non sequiturs that have nothing to do with the question asked. People often don't answer the question that was asked, they answer the question they know the answer to. |
