Good question – who won?

The federal hordes took the day,but not without a damn good fight! Round Top and Little Round Top changed hands twice and Johnny Reb was on his way back up at end of play. Cemetery Ridge was firmly in Confederate hands, but the Reb left flank crumbled under sheer weight of numbers, three corps versus one (three adults versus one junior member, you know who you are and mighty proud of yourselves you must be!)

Well, that was a one-sided match report, I fear!
The reb right flank was led by someone who doesn't know the expression "go around".
The reb centre is mostly dead today.
The reb left flank appeared to have much larger corps than the feds. And is also largely dead.
It is true that the blue battle plan was to throw 3 full corps around the town and onto the reb ridgeline, then roll along the top.
The union centre fought very gallantly and intelligently, holding the fish hook until eventually deciding the moment was right to give ground in order to bring the massed fed artillery reserve into action from the rear.

I noticed the local press only printed the photo of the confederate players. Apparently the opposition photo looked like a bunch of baboons (walking away from the camera) and was pulled so as not to give local children nightmares!

Jed H R23 Aug 2008 5:32 a.m. PST

It'll be because of the flag we were holding up maybe?

The Trog05 Sep 2008 2:02 a.m. PST

I hear the reason the Union photo was pulled was due to the glare of the many bald pates which were on show.

dualer05 Sep 2008 10:05 a.m. PST

Never mind bald heads, lets talk bald legs, peely wally boy.
