Gents,

Does any one have / know how to get hold of a detailed ORBAT of the 'British' forces which took part in the Jameson Raid? I have vague figures at the moment, but would really appreciate much greater detail.

Any info on the forces of the Transvaal which opposed them would also be greatly appreciated.

From 'The Boer War' Thomas Pakenham 1979

'Jameson had nearly 400 Rhodesian mounted police at Pitsani… had collected another 120 vlounteers…at Mafeking. That bought the total of the Chartered company force up to about 600 if one counted the Cape Coloured 'boys' who led the spare horses.

At Pitsani after six month's work, Jameson scraped together 6 Maxim machine guns, 2 seven pounder mountain guns and a twelve and a half pounder field piece…'

Many thanks, Connard Sage

I have that book (and numerous others on the period). What I am really after is how they were organised (troops? squadrons?), chain of command, sub-unit commanders etc. Also, details of their equipment would be great.

No problem BullDog. I haven't read about the Jameson Raid in years, so your post reminds me to haul out some of my 19th Century books and give it another read. thumbs up
