So I sent a couple hours yesterday trying to organize my rule book collection. I hunted through piles, bookshelves and various spider holes throughout the house and turned up a couple dozen more rule books. They have now all been transfered to their real home, a four drawer file cabinet in the basement. They are filed in alphabetical order with little file tabs on the folders so I can find them quickly. I can now see I need to buy a second cabinet as this one is full. Although I may make a trip to Ikea and look for better looking storage solutions. For those who wonder about these kinds of things, the list is now 213 titles, not counting supplements, army books, Codices, scenario books, etc. Here they are: .45 Adventures 1859 1870 5150 A Call to Arms A Good Day to Die A Nation On Trial (ACW) Aces At Dawn Adventures in the Rifle Brigade Aeronef Age of Battles Age of Eagles AK-47 All the King's Men All Things Zombie American Battlelines Among the War Parties Ancient Empires Ancient Warfare (Gore) Arc of Fire Arriba Espana Art of War Axis & Allies Axis & Allies Babyon 5 – A Call to Arms Barraka Battle Stations! Damn. You're worse than me. |

That is quite an impressive list. How many versions of DBA have you got? |
| Grizwald | 12 Aug 2008 8:03 a.m. PST |
My, that lot must be worth a few bob! Ever thought of selling? |
Extra Crispy | 12 Aug 2008 8:09 a.m. PST |
@Martin: Just one (the latest 2.2). I've only been gaming for 3 or 4 years
@Mike: Nope, I'm still in the "what don't I have yet" phase. Also, since they all reside in a very small and unused corner of the game room, getting more doesn't really add to clutter (well, now that I have them collected and organized). |

EC, you're a sick, sick man. Let me help you. Send those to me. I'll keep them from you :) |

"I've only been gaming for 3 or 4 years
" I've been wargaming for well over 30 years and I'm sure I haven't got that many! |
| Grizwald | 12 Aug 2008 8:43 a.m. PST |
"Full Thrust" - but not "More Thrust"? You're missing out! "Horse, Foot, & Guns" That's an interesting one, since it hasn't even been published yet! "The Sword & the Flame" - original or 20th Anniversary edition? "War Games Rules 3000 BC – 1485 AD 7th" Only 7th Ed.? That's probably the worst of the lot. You really should get 4th Edition, that's the one Charles Grant used. Some others in your list were published 20+ years ago. What did you do – buy up job lots of second hand rules? |
Extra Crispy | 12 Aug 2008 8:46 a.m. PST |
No I just mug little old ladies at wargaming conventions

I'm pleased to see G.O.B.S.! made your list. But you're missing The Dragonstone Wars. members.aol.com/dragonstonewars Clearly, you must download and print these out and add them to your set, just because. |

Good gugga-mugga, dude. Wow, I don't know what to say. Good on ya. Cheers, Peter |

So Mark, have I read before that you DID try the Flashpoint Vietnam rules? How did you like them again? I'm starting work on getting all the minis I bought from you painted and I want to play FPVN first and foremost. Just curious. |
| Streitax | 12 Aug 2008 12:46 p.m. PST |
They do offer treatment for this sort of thing, Mark. And, no, it is not true that you can't die until you've played all the rules you own. |
Extra Crispy | 12 Aug 2008 2:28 p.m. PST |
Hi Nazrat: I played twice solo and once with a friend. The new edition they are working on is much more streamlined (more toward playable less toward simulation). Its on the back burner but I am rewriting the rules myself staying at the simulation end of things
|
| nazrat | 12 Aug 2008 7:16 p.m. PST |
Hey, if you feel like sharing any changes then I'm open to help play test! |
| SECURITY MINISTER CRITTER | 12 Aug 2008 9:29 p.m. PST |
Which empire? I still have Empire I, and Stars and Bars I.I thought I had alot of rules. If you need a place to keep it, a have a friend in NORTON,OH. that would lik me to pay her a visit. :) |
Extra Crispy | 12 Aug 2008 10:44 p.m. PST |
Off hand I'm not sure which version of Empire it is. I bought it a while back – used and only gave it a quick read. I'll have to check
|

""Horse, Foot, & Guns" That's an interesting one, since it hasn't even been published yet!" Well, that is not really true, they have been around in various forms for 10 years now. My favourite version is from the late 90s (back when it used the 1"=600p ground scale). |
| Grizwald | 13 Aug 2008 1:25 a.m. PST |
"Well, that is not really true, they have been around in various forms for 10 years now." I meant published, as in formally published, not just a playtest set off Phil'e web site. |

Rules you don't have: oldregimerules.com I have no involvement with them except being a friend of the author online and a user of BAR. :) Also, Standing Like a Wall rules for the Seven Years War by Ioannis Mavromichalis. Available as a PDF from his site: leuthenjournal.com And of course, there's wargaming books that contain rules in them, such as many of the classics. |
