I heard that they all got together for a good bubble bath the night before Lodi. Something about that Northern Italian sun.. |

It's unavoidably Murat. Slim. Dashing. Curly hair. Cavalry. Rascal. Poseur. Everything women like. |

If you mean "visually appealing", I'd tend to agree with those who think it would be Lannes; my girlfriend actually whistled when she saw the portrait of him done for the "Table of the Marshals" (could somebody more technically proficient than I maybe post links to these portraits, or at least the likely contenders?) If, however, we're to consider the personalities of the Marshals, Lannes and MacDonald have to be among the front runners. |

By the way, Mephistopheles, Bernadotte had a nose on him like a proboscis monkey. |

It's got to be Lannes, especially as I named my son after him. |

Historically, it had to be the dude that had that sheila – his mistress – 'Madame X' following him around the Peninsula during the Busaco campaign – Masenna, wonder what he was into? The mind boggles, sounds like a great way to fight a war, win or lose. Battes (PS: The Napster wasn't his best during the Eylau campaign – he was having a MUCH better time than tramping around the cold countryside in Poland, by hanging out with some hottie little Polish princess – YAY!- no wonder Josephine threw him in the dogbox and got rid of him). Many thanks for those pictures above, Steven H Smith; those of Soult and Ney I'd never seen before. Quite a few "Byronic" images among them. |
