I added some pages and an article – not much, I know – to the official Hammers Slammers site about making some quick buildings out of (mostly) nonsense and some resin doors.

link gets you the article as an html page with two picture galleries hanging off of it.

I'm hoping that it would be of generic enough interest to be useful to SF gamers in general: There are a number of 'how to make buildings' articles on the page before it as well: link

Hope it gives people some food for thought.

Nice articles, thanks for sharing the links.

FYI, I'm having a display format problem on the "Buildings from Nothing" link … the text is all in one narrow column on the left, some of which is obscured under the black section headings, and the pictures are all at the top side by side so I have to scroll off the screen to the right.

This is with IE6 which is what my work standard is. I'll have a look tonight from home with Firefox and IE7.

All – thanks for the positive feedback!

Donrice. I'll look into the layout problems and resubmit the page when I get a chance

@JT: Are you the same John Treadaway who used to contribute to (IIRC) Battle magazine way back when?

Redroom06 Aug 2008 5:11 p.m. PST

Really nice work.

I'm using IE7 and had the same layout problem. All the text was in a single narrow column down the left-hand side.

Hi people – fixed the layout bug (I hope) on that page.

Yes, Skeptic, for my sins I have written in the past for Battle and Military Modeling and – for 11 years – I was the F&SF reviewer (and – for some of that – staff photographer) for Practical Wargamer.

Glad to see some people have a long memory!

Yep, formatting is fixed; I tried with both IE6 and Firefox.

I really like the in-progress shots, especially the early ones that show the different odds and ends used to assemble the buildings. The final results look good enough that one really can't t guess what went into making them up.

Thanks for the compliments Donrice – glad the formatting worked too
