BBC Radio 4 – the domestic speach radio service in the UK has a series on the Penisular War:

bbc.co.uk/radio4/wellington

International readers can take heart this is a show you can listen to worldwide – unlike some of their tv programs that are only avaliable in the UK

The show was good and very much better than the talking heads of the Napoleon podcast on the same subject.

Crikey, another one?

I dunno, you wait ages and then two turn up together

Just like London transport!

I'll give it a try anyway, but the Snow's breathless delivery does tend to grate after a while

Quebecnordiques04 Aug 2008 5:44 p.m. PST

Hmmmm… the Snows would have done better appropriately describing the scenes occurred once Badajoz had fallen. The bland terms "complete chaos" and "orgy of destruction" used to depict the disgraceful behaviour of Wellington's army towards the allied civilian population are nowhere near as accurate.

Interesting all the same.

What we really need is a comprehensive Napoleonic documentary series, on the lines of the award winning World at War.
And what about the same thing on the War of the Spanish Succession, instead we get that rubbish Military (US) History Channel on Sky TV

6 messages and no one mentions the typo?

Or maybe this really isn't the series I thought it was…

JonFreitag05 Aug 2008 3:26 p.m. PST

Farstar, that is a very funny observation.
