Does anyone know of an online resource (aka a site with pictures) for the old RAFM Heavy Gear line? I picked up some models on eBay that weren't identified so I wanted to try and figure out what I have. I'd also be interested to know what else was made. I already looked on solends.com. :P |

I can't help with your query, but did any of those models come with cards? |

Look at the current DP9 models. You should be able to recognize most of the gears. You can also take pictures and link it here (TMP). Somebosy will identify it for you. |

None of the RAFM minis came with data cards. The data cards were only introduced towards the tail end of 2nd edition, while the RAFM minis were made for 1st edition. |

The easiest way to identify them is by characteristics, Northern gears will have blocky shaped parts while the Southern gears are more rounder. Then you can further break them up by size. The smallest North gears were Cheetahs and the South had Iguanas. Next are Northern Hunters and Southern Jagers. Northern Jaguard and Southern Mambas And the biggest gears are Northern Kodiaks and Southern Cobras. Or is the trouble you're running into are the variants for all of those models? Because while the South might have had the heavy spitting cobra it's variants were things like the striking cobra, artillery support cobra and heavies like the king cobra. More or less all variants are the same as the basic model except for slight cosmetic differences in weapons and some have a little added armor, like the king cobra. As far as other gears are, I've heard some CEF battle frames were made by RAFM but I never seen any. I don't think RAFM ever made any of the Paxton Arms Peace River gears, so not have them makes identifying what you have much easier as all you probably have are either Northern or Southern gears. |

I don't know anything about data cards. They are not what I'm after. What I *am* after *did* come with the RAFM models. |

I'm pretty familiar with those models. Do you have some pictures? Sargonarhes is right. Southern gears are round and named after reptilian creatures and northern gears have squared edges and are named after mammals. |

I'll try to get some tonight. My guess is Hunters, with some form of Heavy Weapons Hunter in there, as well as some other stuff and a Kodiak (thing's a monster). |

Sounds right. Hunters and Cheetahs are the standard Northern Gears. Grizzlys and Kodiaks are the usual large gears. Little guys will be Ferrets. There are lots of variants on each and special R&D gears. REally big guys will be Mastadons but those will look much different than human configurations. I really loved this game back in the day. The background was great and the mech design was even better. It's a shame that they went the direction that they did. |

Here's a small guide from an organized German person: link |

OK, I got some pictres. Here's what I think they are: Hunter picture Hunter variant? picture Ferret: picture Hunter Para: picture Grizzily: picture Kodiak: picture Does anyone have an idea of where I could find a complete line listing? I emailed RAFM but they haven't responded yet. TB, how did they change the direction of the background? Or are you referring to the game? |

These are my best guesses from research. Please take them at your own risk: #1. Hunter #2. Assault Hunter #3. Isn't a Ferret. If they're calling it a Ferret it's a bad sculpt and not to the design. Ferrets have a wheel in their rear and are realy short and compact. Could be a mishmash of different parts or a Gear I don't recognize. #4. Hunter Recon #5. This looks like parts from 2 different models. The top bits look like a Southern Iguana Commando but the legs are wrong for that Gear and look to be from a Hunter. #6. Bits of a Grizzly. |

The changes I was referring to were in the models/scale. |

I found DP9 has a miniatures gallery: link Going by those pictures I'd say: Hunter ? Assault Hunter if you're certain TB, there's no hunters with that big of a weapon in the gallery White Cat dp9.com/Products/957.htm Hunter Recon Hunter Commando dp9.com/Products/MM5.htm Grizzly (no armored skirt mean not a Kodiak) |

2. Assault Hunter is my best guess. Only thing it can be with the LGPC "Little Joe" Snub Cannon :) 3. Is mostly a White Cat but the head is not the right one. It my be a Ferret head. 5. You are correct. It is a Hunter Commando. That was my first guess but for some reason, something about it changed my mind. That being said, I confirmed it in my Northern Record Sheets Guide. Glad to lend a hand. It was fun busting out all my old materials and searching the memory banks. |

If you get the complete list, please let me know as I'd be highly interested in seeing it. |

True Believer- When I was collecting RAFM Heavy Gear minis I found what I think is a fairly accurate list of what was produced. Here it is. Thanks! Strange. I thought for sure they would have made a Ferret. |
| Sargonarhes | 06 Aug 2008 3:11 p.m. PST |
I don't remember RAFM making a Ferret just like a Type 55 Battle Frame. I find it strange that RAFM bothered to make a Razor Fang Mamba yet DP9 never made one in the 1/144 scale. Most players say it's not worth the points for a gear that's going to draw fire like it does, when a normal Black Mamba works just as well. |

blackscribe: I don't know anything about data cards. They are not what I'm after. What I *am* after *did* come with the RAFM models.
The RAFM minis I bought never had cards, unless you mean the backing card for the blister packs. The DP9 miniatures had backing cards in the clamshells which evolved into the data cards. |
