I was thinking about painting some Swiss infantry to go along with my French army, however I am having trouble finding any detailed information about them in my books. I would like to know how many regiments there were and what their uniforms looked like (coats, belts, facings etc).

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Connard,

Thanks for the links they have been a big help.

Can any one tell me how many companies are in a Swiss batallion? I am also interested on the size of the Neuchatel and Valais batallions.

I've always assumed that foreign regiments in French service were organised as the home-raised regiments were.

here is a plate for the battalions Neuchatel and Valaisian

@ Connard

Are those "black" facings black or very dark blue?

Thanks again, I assumed that they would follow the French organization but I wanted to make sure. These should add some color to my french army.
