I am trying to collect a French skirmish force to play Napoleons Egyptian campaign. Could anyone advice if the Pre-1812 Front Rank French miniatures with bicorne would have the correct uniform for this campaign? Many thanks!

If you want to portray the French early in the campaign then they would do-before they switched over to the colorful local-made uniforms.

I wasn't aware that Front Rank made line infantry in bicornes, I will have to check their catalog again.

Why not use a range that is specifically designed for Egypt: either Dixon or Elite?

I would say yes, for the early campaigns the will do, only the greatcoat is disturbing.

From the Syrian campaign onward, first the cotton uniforms and then under Kleber and Menou the multi coloured woolen coats.

Thanks for your advice!

(The reason why I am looking at Front Rank is because I like the Big and Beefy style rather than the tiny Dixon style. I understand that they would also be compatible with Trent miniatures.)

Forgot to mention Eagle miniatures. They also have some British 1790 figures. Although no French in the cap.

IMO while crisp and nice to paint the front ranks figs are too static for a skirmish game.

check out elite or the new eureka stuff.

Blucher, thanks for your advice. What I have seen from the past is that the detail of Elite is similar to the old Hinchliffe and Peter Gilder/Connoisseur. To paint these is just not fun, even if I agree that the poses are more "lively" than FR. Are there any pictures of Elite that could make me change my mind? (could not find any close-ups on their webpage)
