The Victrix website now has more pictures of the forthcoming British infantry. They look good and are good value at £19.99 GBP for 52 figures. The website says the French will be next and they are going to do them in 1805 to 1812 uniform and a choice of shako or bicorne. Hopefully they will go for a march attack type pose as opposed to the mix of advancing/marching/firing line of the Brits as this will be much more useful when forming columns. What do you guys think?
Cheers, Simon

Now that's good news!

I'm really looking forward to these. I can finally start my War of 1812 project!

Pictors Studio28 Jul 2008 8:45 p.m. PST

Are they released? I go to the webstore and put a couple of boxes in my cart and they say they are out of stock.

the trojan bunny28 Jul 2008 8:47 p.m. PST

According to the site they are aiming at a September release date.

Artilleryman29 Jul 2008 2:08 a.m. PST

Too good to be true……? Roll on September. Roll on the French!

basileus6629 Jul 2008 3:39 a.m. PST

New toys! Yipiiiiieeeeee!!!!

If they made Spanish and Guerrillas I will be ecstatic!

pointyjavelin29 Jul 2008 3:48 a.m. PST

Arr, these are fantastic – but….I …….hate…..making…plastics….I will thole it, cos they look fabby.

Simon Boulton29 Jul 2008 9:21 a.m. PST

What poses would you like to see for the French, A uniform one such as march attack or mixed like the British?

Nice figure, and I will have to get some undoubtedly. Wonder whether they will match up with Perry's coming plastics.

It would be nice to see the plastics ranges coming out be filled out prior to them moving on. Warlord seems to be doing this. However, Victrix is doing both Peninsula and Waterloo at the same time. I would prefer they do one or the other first and fill out everything they are going to do on that period before launching into another line.

Trajanus29 Jul 2008 9:43 a.m. PST

Looking Good!

Although like I think I said before, the muskets are way to big!

Need to see these a Newbury to check 'in the flesh' though.

malcolmmccallum29 Jul 2008 10:09 a.m. PST

They are large but they aren't quite GW hand weapon large yet. Maybe there is something in plastic that makes weapons grow.

Simon Boulton29 Jul 2008 10:56 a.m. PST

The guys at Victrix are very good at replying to emails. The French set will have a large percentage in march attack pose but with some firing line types too. They hope to do a greatcoat set and leger set next year depending on how well things go. Cheers, Simon

"depending on how well things go" –

Can't they hear us drooling in anticipation? Only question, can I paint my Perry ACW fast enough not to create a plastics backlog as well as a metal one?

The Hound29 Jul 2008 11:35 a.m. PST

Great pictures on their website. the Price is attractive too. You could make a 28mm army for the price of 15mm.Hopefully they will make Rifles, Spanish and Portugese also. Also with the Waterloo British plus Perry's Waterloo French Dutch Belgians and Brunswickers you could play the 100 days campaign

Trajanus29 Jul 2008 3:29 p.m. PST

"Only question, can I paint my Perry ACW fast enough not to create a plastics backlog as well as a metal one?"

Look on the bright side, at least it wont weigh as much!

Royal Marine29 Jul 2008 11:23 p.m. PST

To make a balance regt or two, you would need up to nine boxes of centre companies for every flank company! Is my maths correct? In 15mm or less you could quite easily not bother with the flank coys, but in 28mm it would definelty stand out … theses are very tempting.

Footslogger30 Jul 2008 1:24 a.m. PST

Not quite, Royal Marine – there are two flank companies (1 Grenadier, 1 Light) for every eight centre companies – so the ratio is 1:4. I'm hoping that surplus flank company figures, by changing the shako plate to a bugle horn, can become Light Infantry battalions.

Footslogger30 Jul 2008 2:35 a.m. PST

Hmm. Ok, so the thing about making Light Infantry out of Centre Coy figs would of course only work with Peninsular Brits.

Royal Marine30 Jul 2008 5:12 a.m. PST

So five boxes then to make balanced forces … or share with a buddy. At 52 figures per box, that's 260 figures!

Simon Boulton30 Jul 2008 1:10 p.m. PST

I think you could also use some of the flank company figures for Fusilier regts as yhey wore the same shoulder pads.

ACW Gamer02 Aug 2008 3:47 p.m. PST

I suggested they make some Americans for the War of 1812 but that does not seem to be popular enough to justify the models. He did say there is a tiny possibility that they will make a conversion kit some day……wish I enjoyed the Napoleonic wars because the figures are full of character.

Gunfreak03 Aug 2008 2:21 a.m. PST

I allready have alot of 15mm british peninsula.

so I probebly won't start another penunsula project. but mabye a waterloo.

I have to find a british divion that fought a French one at the battle.

I emailed Steve from Victrix about which brand would match Victrix and he told me that they would closely match the Perry's Naps.

That's a good new as Perry doesn't produce any Naps Brits for now.

The plus is the hard plastic multipose figures,52 in a set thus allowing almost endless possibilities.

With the future release of the Brit Cavalry, the charge of the Household Brigade at Waterloo won't be no more a dream !

With the French, Dutch and others Perry's Naps (they are starting producing plastic Naps too) the gap will be filled thanks to Victrix.

christot10 Aug 2008 3:55 p.m. PST

The 4:1 ratio will drop when you start making skirmish screens etc using the flank coys… Also I notice there is a covered shako in there …need a few boxes then for a couple of 48 man Guards bttns
so 260 figs….for "proper" ( ;o) ) rules at 1:20 thats a piddly 8 btns plus a few skirmishers….so about twice that would be start, (plus the highlanders, rifles,Guards..)

James Forrest10 Aug 2008 5:56 p.m. PST

I was just wondering will having a pile of unpainted plastic keep you immortal like unpainted lead will?

Jeremy Sutcliffe11 Aug 2008 1:12 a.m. PST

My junior school teacher in 1956 told me that there was no such word as BRIT and to use it was an insult. I think she was, and is, still correvct.

pointyjavelin11 Aug 2008 2:29 a.m. PST

Britt Ekland may demur with that remark.

ACW Gamer19 Nov 2008 4:41 p.m. PST

Would anyone else interested in a War of 1812 American conversion kit please let Victrix know?….thank you.
