I am currently trying to make some nice 6mm fields and had a look at Silfor (see link)

Has anyone uses the strips to make fields and if so how did they work out?

Silfor mats are thick. I see no reason why it wouldn't work using a board base. I haven't used them yet but plan to for wheat fields. I wonder how long they will hold up. This months Model Railroader has a brief article using the mats for making meadows.

they work superbly to make fields:

They hold up extremely well as they are very tightly glued (the strips that is) and can take the weight of models/figures without a problem.
As with all scenery the better you treat it the longer it lasts; but you dont need to be exceptionally careful with it as the fibers are so densely packed together.

Depends where in the world you are, postage, exchange rates and any customs.

We're ~25% cheaper than the official UK stockist (over 40% one some items).
Some of our international customers have told us that we're also cheaper than SE as they (SE) charge a lot for postage outside of the USA. I have no first hand experience of this but one customer claimed a $50 USD postal surcharge to Australia.

Given the exchange rate I doubt we'd be cheaper than the USA stores though (to canada)…assuming reasonable postage and no customs fees.

Having said that with all international online purchases it pays to check your postage before you buy; and never buy unless the postage (and any handling or other surcharges) is clearly shown.

Thanks Mrs A. I have been a fan of yours for some time so I will pick some up at Colours if you are there.

Over a year later but…

Which season are the "dry" looking strips?

Cheers,
