I started this ages ago and have just completed it.
It's based on a 1:35 scale Panther with a GW turret. The twin 128mm guns are from my bits box and the commander is a Bolt Action mini with a scratch-built gas mask.

Hmmm, I imganie it's a bit cramped in the cupola, what with two 128mm gun breaches, the commander, radio, loader, etc., etc., etc. But then again, what is fantasy for if not fun? Cool looking tank. And I wouldn't doubt some German engineer would have come up with something like it if the war had gone on. After all, the nation that built the Maus would build anything.

They did make a twin-barreled 128mm AA mount, if I recall correctly.

I imagine a twin-barreled Maus would be a bit more plausible though, e.g. replacing the small 75mm pop-gun with the larger second barrel.

That is one cool model.

Hmmm, I was actually thinking Elefant/Ferdinand when I wrote Maus.

Still, a cool model.

It looks plausable in that "crazy idea rushed into production the turret is jammed again and we are out of gas" style that was the hallmark of late-war german engineering.

Affen-titten-gile! As my german friends would say. Outstanding model, you are the new armaments minister for the reich.

chuck05 Fezian16 Jul 2008 6:40 p.m. PST

is that a forgeworld turret? That is an amazing model.

Thanks for the comments!
The really cramped turret would be a problem…. Almost as much as the crew having to retrieve the turret from a field two hundred metres behind the tank when they fired both guns at once!

The turret is from a platic "Baneblade" with all the rivets filed off.
