Kislevites look like the kind of figures I'd like to use for a band of soldiers in a game we're playing, but they are hard to find for (what I'd consider) a reasonable price on eBay. What historical figures (in 28mm) would also fill the bill, with that funky eastern European look? |

Neotacha, I would go with Renaissance Polish. The Kislev winged knights were based in the last edition on specifically the Polish armies of Jan Sobieski, et al. I have Essex and Hinchliffe, myslef. However TAG and Old Glory also have fine ones. The light cavalry can be Renaissance Tartars or Cossacks. I just sent you a PM on some I am willing to part with. Old Glory has a very nice Eastern Europe Renaissance range, with Poles, Muscovites, Tartars, Cossacks, and of course Turks. |

Renaissance Poles, Cossaks and Russians. Many companies sell them: TAG, Old Glory, Redoubt and Essex. Possibly others that I can't think bout now. Check this blog for many images of those figures: link |

I always thought it peculiar that a fantasy realm with an obvious Cossack motif took the name of a month in the Hebrew calendar. Allen |

Foundry do a Polish range which fit, designed by the Perry's who I think did the Kislevs as well. Of course you did ask for reasonable prices so foundry mighty be out. link link link Jon |

I have some of the older Foundry Polish Winged Hussars that I'd be interested in selling or trading. (I think I have 10 or 12 of them. They are in new condition, having sat in a box every since I bought them.) Send me a PM if interested. |

Neotacha, I have 18 Turk OG Ren arquabusiers that you could have. They have long coats, beards, scimitars, and sporting various turbans and those funky Polish pointy hats. They are black primed and setting in my "what in the world will I do with these" pile. I could look up exactly what they are. I can't remember off the top if they are Turks, Poles, or some such. |

Agreed on the Polish. In fact, one of the Perry twins wrote an article about his Mordheim Kislev warband in an old White Dwarf magazine, and mentioned in passing that a friend in Poland had sent him a book on renaissance Polish military history

Thanks to everyone who replied. As Michael said (and I should have specified in the original post) I really am looking more for foot soldiers than cavalry, although I could probably use some mounted troops. Let me look at some of the images of the ones you've suggested (or offered to sell or trade me, thanks), and I'll decide in the next day or two if I want what's up for offer. If that's the case, I'll be in touch with some of you with a yes or no by the end of the week. |

Ah, foot troops! Then, I suggest that you get Poles labeled "Drabant", or Cossack foot. Old Glory has a nice range, and the Cossack War range has a very nice Basil (or Olaf) the Turk slayer on a sedan chair. Interestingly, Foundry has Cossacks in its SYW historical range, sculpted by Mark Copplestone, with foot and mounted versions of the same figures. I have them, and they are great. I think that OG might too, but I am not sure. "Zaporozhian" Cossacks are terrific figures too. They are usually wearing just baggy trousers, and are bald with a top-knot of hair. They are usually swinging a two handed axe. |
