Disney's radio control version of the Black Pearl. Saw one this morning in FLHS for $Oz 60 in their sale. I bought the Disney Pirate Armada Empress & the Black Pearl for $Oz 14.99 each. They are suitable for small ships in LOTHS although the Empress junk is a tad narrow. the figures are about 30 mm tall with no bases. |

For those wanting that older privateer/pirate (16th century) look, check out the Golden Hind plans I found: picture picture picture CC |

That pirate ship looks great for a toy. I could have sworn it was a model. It must have been touched up. Can anyone confirm? |

There was also an RC pirate ship that was discontinued at Toys R Us a few months back. I bought one for under $40 USD USD. It did require some conversion work, I had to cut the bottom of the ship and remove the propeller and motorized bits as well as remove some out of scale cannons. But the finished product looks pretty good. picture Dave Lone Star Historical Miniatures lshm.net Drop by for a virtual visit!! |

FYI – Revell also offers the Black Pearl as a static 1/72nd scale model here for $9.79 USD us, and I've seen it in Hobby Lobby on clearance as well. link Bill |

Oh, BTW – They also offer it in a glow-in-the-dark version called "The Ghost Ship" for double the price. Actually, they do a fairly decent little line of 1/72nd scale ships including a Viking Longship and a Hanseatic Cog that's generic enough to be any Elizabethan era Cog, as well as bunch of WWII stuff. Also, Zvezda does a 1/72nd scale Greek Trireme. Bill |
