And by armies, I mean a) painted & b) ARMY, not a skirmish force of 20 men. I know these can differ quite a bit, but we all know an army when we see one!

I have 4 armies, all 25/28mm :

Warhammer Empire (midsize)
Warhammer Chaos/Slaanesh (big)
WAB Greek Hoplite army (midsize)
Napoleonic Austrian army (big)

And next year I should have enough Naps French to add a fifth army to my collection.

Brandlin29 Jun 2008 4:42 p.m. PST

All of them. They're all mine i tell you.

Brandlin29 Jun 2008 4:44 p.m. PST

ermmm… sorry abut that – my megalomaniacal mini-me got to the keyboard ahead of me…

all in 28mm i have…

Dwarf (many manufacturers) big (well, by big i mean somewhere in the region of 1,000 figures… i really must stop buying these damned stunties…)
Hasslefree grymn (well, technically still stunties, these ones have guns) small
Vor growlers (big – well one of every growler made)
Confrontation Alahan and Griffin human froces (smallish – 100 figures or less)
RPG figures (midsized? – 2-300)

Its worth saying that not one of these collections could rightfully be called an army… most aren't painted and are certainly not organised in any kind of structure that could not be adequately defined by the terms "rabble" or "horde".

"and he did not think it too many"

andygamer29 Jun 2008 4:45 p.m. PST

Painted or unpainted?

Midpoint29 Jun 2008 4:45 p.m. PST

Matched pair Allies and French Peninsular – 750 so far and counting down to 1000:

and

Royalists and Parliamentarians for ECW:

about 380 I think.

Some pretty poor WAB Vikings from before I could paint adequately:

link

about a 100 or so…

Some 15mm EIR I picked up at Partizan about 10 years ago – these veterans are in action on Tuesday in my first ever game of FoG:

link
and
link

300 odd of them.

Matched Nelsonian fleets in 1:1200 – bought with my first grown up paycheque:

and

20 ships.

Apparently I have no pics of my FoW – US and Germies – I'll rectify that should I ever get another game! Got some great new 15mm scale scenery I'm hoping to use soon. About two companies worth of each, one infantry and one Armoured.

Mostly bits and pieces other than that – about three dozen Gloire figures and a small Darkest Africa Expedition are what I can remember at this time of night.

Michael.

Wife, 2 kids, 2 cars, 2 story large house to store it all in. Lived in same house since 1980, same group of friends all that time. Well set up for playing war games, 2 tables, 12ftx6ft and 10ft x6ft. Socialising area with pool table, rumpus room, B-B-Q area, computer room and library/study blah blah blah

P.S. – I am beginning to do large renovations to add more room to the house, larger downstairs for all of the above and preparing for when my two girls become teenagers…god help me.

I own less than an army. Couple platoons, maybe. Some can call a platoon an army. At least one PR firm referenced an army of one. Still don't understand that one. I bet the sergeants really liked that one.

just a stupidly large number of loose dwarves, elves, orcs, goblins and skeletons. but, hey, it gets my daughters involved in painting and playing! 400+

Shane … I have three teenage daughters (and an older boy in the navy), and they play DB (which I don't) and Gang Warfare in the Age of Bronze, and lots of board games. I figure this will cut down on the football jocks I might have to terrorize. And the gamer geeks are so far hiding from me. Guess they know me too well. Heh.

Covert Walrus29 Jun 2008 7:03 p.m. PST

Let's see -

Dirtside (And other 6mm SF games): New Anglians have 5 platoons infantry plus IFVs or VTOL transports, 2 scout tank platoons, 4 platoons MBTs, 1 artillery platoon, 1 heavy MBT platoon, 1 Heavt tank platoon, 2 support platoons and a missile carrier platoon, plus ancillary command resources deployed as required. Aerospace includes a 6-craft Dropwing, 2 Close Support aircraft, 4 light support aircraft, 6 Gunship jetcopters and 2 Heavy Interdictor/strike aircraft.

NSL have 2 infantry platoons, 1 PA platoon, 1 IFV platoon, 2 APC/AA platoons, 4 MBT platoons, 2 Support tank platoons, 1 missile carrier platoon, 1 Superheavy tank platoon, 1 Light artillery platoon, 1 Medium artillery platoon, HQ platoon and 2 platoons Medium walker tanks. Aerospace is a 4 VTOL combined support/transport aircraft force. ( A Jager unit will also be added as soon as Brigade release the truck-mounted equipment and I can find some appropriate figures.)

Small strike forces from the OUDF, ScanFed, Japanese, and ESU – The latter also supplying the parts for the LLAR mercenaries and soon to be increased thanks again to Brigade.

Starfleets – A full Sector fleet of about 65 ships for the NAC, plus a 52 ship IJN fleet and Task Forces for the FSE, SV and ScanFed. A reasonable EarthForce carrier task force for B5 in the Fleet Action scale.

Epic: A (Slowly) growing Tau Crisis force, and a large Tyranid swarm.

CAV; A 6-vehicle flying APC unit, plus 2 CAV groups of four each.

OGRE Minis; One each of all combat OGRES ever made, a unit of Combine Superheavy tanks, 2 units of Combine Tanks, and a decent force of PanEuro vehicles and artillery.

The rest is some naval assets, generic engineering vehicles and such.

"None. My attention span is too short"

I feel your pain and am in a pretty much the same situation permanently. With fairly minor work, I suppose I'd be able to muster what could be called a Wh40k Eldar army I could field in our own "club" at least.

Oddly enough, as I've never actually played a space combat game (other than some space themed boardgames), I've got pretty decent sized space fleets for both sides of the conflict in "Legend of the Galactic Heroes" universe. Obviously not what was asked, but now I've told you anyway, so there! (-;)

Currently working on a Warhammer Fantasy Orcs and Goblins army to match up against my Skaven.

Well, once you said 'painted' I am forced to admit I have no armies. Unpainted, I have quite a few with more being added as time goes by.

SwampfoxFL30 Jun 2008 4:19 a.m. PST

If it isn't painted, based, and ready to put on the table and play, it isn't an army. It's just a bunch of figures.

Paul Y30 Jun 2008 4:29 a.m. PST

All painted and ready to go:

1/285:
MSH:
1 1980s Soviet tank division, 1 MRR division, assorted other army-level assets (airmobile, SSMs, this and that).

ooh..nearly forgot!!…

15mm DBM

1 x Late Swiss

Bob Hume30 Jun 2008 5:39 a.m. PST

Wow, some of you guys have alot of stuff. And some of you need to get more.

AlanYork30 Jun 2008 5:43 a.m. PST

Four, all in 15mm and all fairly big;

Macedonian which can make pretty much all the Successor armies too.
Mithridatic
Russian Civil War Bolsheviks
Russian Civil War Whites.

I'd like to get a Wars Of The Roses army from Peter Pig but two things put me off. The longbows look like barge poles (a pity as it's an otherwise excellent range, his Russian Civil War stuff, of which I have hundreds are superb also), and the expenditure as I'm getting married next year and that costs money. I've become a responsible, dull adult at 42 lol.

I still want one though……really, really WANT one!!!!

Virginia Tory30 Jun 2008 6:11 a.m. PST

I have:

15mm AWI (New Minifigs and some Freikorps). About 80-90 percent of my initial haul painted.

15mm Napoleonics
French, British, Portugese, Austrian, some Dutch Belgian and German states, all in various states of completion. Most of the French and British are done.

15mm Franco-Austrian War of 1859. I have French, Austrian and Piedmontese.

15mm ACW. About a division+ assortment of Yanks and Rebs, all mostly painted.

Sniper530 Jun 2008 6:12 a.m. PST

Alan, I handled one of those recovered longbows in Southampton. A barge pole is rather slender compared to it…

Red358430 Jun 2008 6:16 a.m. PST

AlanYork – surely that's what wedding presents are for!! Tell guests that you've placed your wedding list at Peter Pig and they can pick from there.

I'm sure your bride will understand….
