This picture is the Wilki impresion of them.

Note if a ex-workmate of mine is to be relied on everybody at Anzio ended up in US gear due to supply problems. So Anzio may not be the best place for a pic but should suffice till the experts start in.

The Movie was pretty accurate from the reading and photos I saw when I did research at the JFK Special Warfare Center and School in Fayettville. American equipment for the most part. The museum (SF) and the new SOF museum in Fayettville may be able to help.

At least a few of the Canadians had locals custom stitch badges and insignia for them while training at Fort Harrison, so it would appear that at least initially they were purely US supplied.

If you look on page 65 of The First Special Services Force, A War History of the North AMericans 1942-1944 by LTC Robert Burhams March 1947 ISBM 0-89839-050-8, There is a great image of some of the force ready to board ship for the Kiska Landing. The patch on the left sleeve is the only indication of the unit. Most all of the images I have seen or are in what books I still have on them show standard U.S. issue.

"Theres an Osprey, which will tell you everything you need to know………"

Because it's Richard, this sentence has significant credibility. But those two clauses are generally incompatible.
