Has anyone had a chance to read this book? I was thinking of picking it up on Amazon, but wasn't sure if it was worth it. Easy to read? Accurate? Illustrations? Thanks!

While on topic, has anyone checked out the Osprey, "Tudor Warships(1): Henry VIII's Navy"? I believe it is in the New Vanguard series…Thanks!

I've just read the book.

Not bad as a sort of rambling discourse about naval matters during (and both before and after) Henry's reign. Not much illustration and I'd not think of it as a reference but I enjoyed it.

I particularly liked the way it looked across many aspects of Tudor society and Henry's rather erratic kingship and linked it all in to the naval bits.

Certainly worth a read if you've an interest in the period or in early naval warfare.

I'll second everything said by GildasF. It's a nice lightweight discussion on an obscure (to me anyway) topic.

Besides I got my copy for Christmas, so it's better than socks.
