This is a hardy perenniel question, but it's been a few months, so I thought I'd still see if it was the case that the choice for pushbikes in 28mm-ish boils down to:

a) Lemax table decorations that seem to be unavailable here (UK);
b) Foundry Home Guard on bikes;
c) Eureka.

If so, does anyone have pictures of the Eureka bikes? Their web-site (and that of Fighting 15s) shows the penny-farthings and unicycles, but not the regular boneshakers.

try 1/48th scale airfix style kits… i'm pretty sure i swa some on hannants a while back…

You can get a standard bike in thier Vietnam range with Ox Cart, lady holding baby. They might sell you just the bike.

RavenscraftCybernetics27 May 2008 1:56 p.m. PST

Seems like a pushbike would be easy enough to construct from scratch. no pedals or gears to fuss over.

I was going to recommend the Foundry Home Guard bycycle, but I see that you are already considering that option.

Neotacha27 May 2008 3:26 p.m. PST

I'll see if I can dig out that bicycle tonight or tomorrow and take a picture of it for you. It's the one from the Vietnam range The Gray Ghost mentioned.

You can probably order it separately, if you just get in touch with Nic at Eureka.

Which reminds me; I need to order 10 hip-baths this month.

Eureka has a 25mm scale push bike in their vietnam range – a lady with a bike (found with the ox cart pack). No photo on the site though

I need to order 10 hip-baths this month.

I'm not even going to ask….

Maybe she means hip flasks…10 hip flasks could be useful when filled appropriately.

They may even help get through Canadian/US/Mexican customs, but don't tell Bob.

I mean the hip baths that come with Ophelia Phondlewell (in the Pax Limpopo line). Don't need that many nekkid chicks, but can use the tubs.

Thanks, folks: yes, the Eureka bikes are listed separately, under "Transports of Delight" – but not pictured.

Nic Robson27 May 2008 11:31 p.m. PST

If you contact me at Eureka, we can send you a PDF picture of the bike.

Eureka bikes = nice. And they are not that easy to make in 25mm, specially the wheels.

Skeptic28 May 2008 4:20 a.m. PST

Would those Eureka bikes be at all like German bikes from WW II?

Nic Robson28 May 2008 8:06 p.m. PST

Skeptic, send me a picture of a WW II German bicycle and I'll send you a picture of the bike we make. Then we can compare.

Nic and John at Eureka have now sent me a photo, so there's no need for you to take a picture, Neotacha – but thanks for the offer.

The Eureka one is nice, and I'll order some from Fighting 15s along with the new demons. But I'm still hankering after the Lemax one because, uniquely, it has spokes.

It turns out that there is now a UK stockist of Lemax:
lemaxland.co.uk
… but they don't have the bikes. The nearest shop I can find that has them is in the Netherlands, and wants to charge me four times as much in postage as the pack of models costs!

After a bit more poking around, I found that Chatham Toys makes both a ladies' and a gents' bike in O gauge (US version, 1/48):

Pricey, though (US$4 and $5 USD respectively). I am trying to tell myself that I have no possible use for the lawnmower kit and couldn't afford it anyway.

Phoenix figures has several bicycles in 1/43 (European O gauge), which is getting a bit too big, and which cost even more: £4.00 GBP or thereabouts. But there is one covered in onions, and lots of other odd and interesting stuff (steam rock drill, anyone?):
link

Scale Link themselves have a couple more 1:43 bikes here, at over a fiver each, and illustrated only by drawings:

And another by S&D Models at the bottom of ths page:

4D Modelshop stocks a 1/50 male cyclist, but there's no picture, and the bike may or may not be separate. Three for £5:
link

Plastruct makes which styrene bicycles in O, HO and N gauges:
link
The O gauge ones are over $12 USD for 2!

Finally, I found that West Wind has a 28mm cyclist in its "Berlin or Bust" range pack of French civilians, but I can't tell whether or not rider and bike are separate castings.
