Here's a good place to look for some information:

My current favorite Indian elephant is the Gripping Beast Sassanid model, see here:

If I ever get around to building a Classical Indian army, I think I might use these elephants, with the howdahs put aside and the crews swapped for Indians, of course.

The best, IMHO, is still Essex.Unfortunately, don't seem to be many photos. Used to appear in glossy wargames mags all the time.

I really like the Vendel one. It seems to be the most elephanty sized one.

Vendel evry time, their armoured indian elephant is superb, remember they arent grey though for gids sake!

Do em by mixing grey and brown, wash with Dark brown ink, drybrush light brown particularly over the legs, feet and backside, then they usually have flesh coloured spots around their eyes, lower ears and lower trunk, check out kevin Dallimores one its excellent…

its an A&A miniature which are excellent castings

Hi I use Tin Soldier elephants painted by HCH- they look sensational and are not that expensive: I find the gripping beast ones great but small compared to these which have more animation than the Essex ones which I have.
