Just wondering if anyone has any input on how successful Historical mini games were at Gencon Indy? I'm thinking of maybe running 1-2 of them, but honestly do not want to set up a nice table only to not have any players. So ideas, comments, and observations please? |

Murph, Check the with the fine folks at HMGS Great Lakes. We are the ones attempting an historicals comeback at Gencon. Here's the link: hmgsgl.com Rob Breedern is th man in charge of the effort, or at least he has been over the last few years. PM me for his e-mail address or use the above link and contact our esteemed El Presidente John Lawtzke for the info. BTW, do you think you can make it to Toledo for Drums Along The Rapids on the 16th and 17th? |

While I have not been at Gen Con Indy in a few years, depending on what you want to put on, I would think you will get people to play. My buddies and myself always put on a few games of WW II and ACW and we were always sold out. Last time I was there was 2005 and there were also several FoW games that had lots of players as well from what I saw. |

I don't doubt there are games that do well but last year at least the emphasis on miniatures in general was very limited. Even the trade stands were little more than prepaints from Reaper and clix stuff compared to all the board and rpg's. Miniature focus had been higher in prior years and this year I won't even think of it having a miniatures presence really so I won't be disappointed. |

One of the games at Johnny Con 2, "The Battle of Millikens Bend" is also being run at Gen Con Indy. |

I can only offer my personal experience from a player's perspective
I always look for historical minis games at GenCon and so far, out of the past three years that I've gone, they seem to do really well as far as sign ups and participation. Matter of fact, two of the large events that I played last year had overflow participants ("generic" ticket holders) waiting for paid participants to leave or drop out so they could play. I think that you could run just about any period and you'd get a sold out table. |

Game Korps usually runs some fine FOW games. Highly recommended. link However, my experience has been that historical minis are limited at GenCon. While I LOVE GenCon, I have to direct my money and time to Origins instead, which is smaller but equally well run, and in a much more pleasant venue than Historicon. |
