I can't win…
Just when I think I've ordered all the stuff I need and want, SUDDENLY ANOTHER RELEASE comes out!

More pulp figures!
More Western!
More Pirates!
More Ships!

All the figs from Blue Moon that I haven't got but I neeeeeeeed so damn badly, to sit in the drawer with my other ton of 28mm lead…

I'm still working on my 15's for AK47 Republic…I've got M1's to paint, T72's to paint, more troops and civilians, buildings to build…(oh yeah..lets not EVEN get into TERRAIN and Scenics! That's another whine there.)

Cripes..I've got an entire bedroom and it's not enough…

If Peter Pig releases any more 15mm AK47 Stuff, or if Geoff from QRF releases anything else…I'm an soooooooo doomed…

Gods..this hobby is horrible…

Please don't tell me I'm the only one that thinks like this…

See my review for the new mat from theterrainguy.com. I am under the same pressure as his new stuff is calling to me like some evil sirens song, but my wife will have my head if I spend any more money right now. Its a horrible feeling to want something so bad and know you really should not order it. I must hold out, at least for a little while.

Get off your duffs and paint up what you have….geesh!

I know! So much good stuff coming out – constantly!
I can't possibly keep up.
Well … I could, but the lack of food might not go down too well with the rest of the family.

Sir James05 May 2008 8:23 p.m. PST

That's right:

* don't waste money on food, or
* stop wating all that "painting time" sleeping!

Seriously, I'm in the same boat…and need to take Ogdenlulimus' advice and get a paintin'!!!

Just say no. I know I can't.

I do agree that an overload of stuff can ruin a game for me but these companies gotta produce to stay around I guess….

Stick with one time period or conflict, that will slow you down.

You are your own worst enemy.

Death by self destruction.

The fact that I have too much stuff to paint slows me down some from buying more figures. It doesn't stop me COMPLETELY, it just slows me down some.

Here's what you do… Dig out all your unpainted stuff and arrange it on/around your painting table in the open. Plainly visible. Then, everytime you think of buying new stuff, turn around and take a look and calculate how long it'll take to get color on the existing pile.

If you've lost inspiration for a project – sell it off and move on. Use the proceeds to fund something you are inspired for. Then paint it up before starting the next one.

Good Luck.

Look at it as an investment. The price of metal is going up, and you will never get them as cheaply as you can now. One day, 15mm figures will cost $2.00 USD each. Might be 20 years from now, might be 10, (I hope it's not 5), but the idea is to look at it like a commedies market. If you get them now, you won't pay more later.

Can you imagine what your armies would be worth 10 years from now, let alone unpainted lead?

It's an addiction buddy and you've got a frickin' chimpanze on your back >;D Welcome to the club. I like to call my own particular disorder "WADD" (Wargaming Attention Defecit Disorder) because it makes me spend a "wadd" of cash every time something new comes along. One week I'm into Aztecs, the next I'm into Cowboys, then I'll jump back to WW2, and now I'm even considering the ACW thanks to those Perry Pushers!

Hey AX;
WADD" (Wargaming Attention Defecit Disorder) – this is a perfect description that I beleive each and everyone of us suffers from.

Everytime I see something new, I know I can use it, know that I shouldn't buy it, but buy it anyways because lief is too short not to.

I have also started setting goals for myself as well for prepping, priming, painting, building and constructing. So far, the goals are really helping me focus on what I want to get done and when I want to get it done by. The trick is, what do I want to introduce my two sons to now compared to later. Make up an excel sheet and stick to it. It will help you, but remember to keep it realistic.

I have been doing it for one month now, and I feel much better about myself and the hobby again. Good luck.

I've decided to go 'unleaded'…in that with oil prices going over 121.00USD a barrel, I'm parking the car, (other than life or death MUNCHIE runs to Wallyworld, 7 mins away) and doing all my bill-paying electronically…

So food, utilities and MINIATURES….gas and travel…meh!

that will have to do for now….I GOTTA have my 'tin fix'!!!

*SLISH!!!!!
Sgt DWW-bartentacle tele-commuting to the Lounge (good thing we have an EBTH!!!-emergency bartentacle hologram!!)

"don't worry, the first one is free"

Brandlin06 May 2008 10:26 a.m. PST

I have the same problem in buying figures… but i think my WADD is more pronounced than many… its actually been over 20 years since i actually put figures on a table and moved them about a bit…

for me its the "ownership" / "collector" thing…

must have….

want…

having a 'gap' in my collection can drive me to hell and back… worse than that it drives me to infeasibly high bids on ebay!

Gaps are the worst – they needle you no end!

GeoffQRF06 May 2008 11:57 a.m. PST

…or if Geoff from QRF releases anything else…

Just a few WW2 bits and pieces at the moment… well, until the summer that is.

Buy.
Buy more.
Buy more now, and be happy.

Set aside a day as a hobby day, don't waste your time watching TV as there's nothing good on it anyways. And don't come here talking to us. Sit down and paint those minies.

When you play one period it is all easy. I have all the Templars I need. Save money time and space.
