Any recommendations for 28mm Swedish troops in Afghanistan? Could miniatures from the TAG, Mongrel or MoFo ranges be used (with some imagination
)? Any suggestions welcome! |

First of all, what do they carry? From the pics I've seen, the regular units carry the regular AK-5/FN FNC. That should either be possible to find or do arm conversions (haha) for. The SSG boys, do they carry something else? |

Regular units carry the AK5/ FN FNC usually the shortbarrelled kind with an optical sight. SSG either have the same rifle or the german G36. |

Thanks for your response. My main concern are the uniforms. Do the Swedes have the same uniform as the other forces in the ISAF, like the Danes? |

The uniforms are of Swedish design. It uses the same kind of "splinter camo" as the ordinary green one but the colors are more desert like. Like this: picture picture
Here is the standard coloured uniform picture picture |

I think I would use figures from the SAS range. Swedish units in Afghanistan has a fairly "relaxed" view to things like uniforms and beards ( ok to have as Afghans tend to view men without beards as not quite grown up yet and therefore not to treated like real "men". Not always of course but sometimes) Function is more important than form so even average infantry troopers can look different in the same squad. I would try to modify the weapons a bit by snipping of the front sight on the M4 carbines and try to file the front grip a bit more "square". If you then paint the figures in the splinter camo they will look Swedish. Helmets are not commonly worn so bareheaded or booniehats are ok. Even baseball caps are worn sometimes. Also the Swedish army uses the FN MAG machine gun which some SAS figures carry. We also use the FN Minimi light SAW which also some SAS figures carry so they are excellent.
