I used to play the Yaquinto "Ironclads" game a lot, back in the 80's. I pulled it out again last night, and discovered that I've moved into a simpler era of my life. I just got overwhelmed by all the charts that I used to navigate, effortlessly.

I also read through "Smoke on the Water" last night. I liked the movement, but the gunnery looked too involved.

What I'd really like is a Full Thrust variation for Ironclads. I'm willing to sacrifice detail and accuracy for playability. Can anyone point me towards one?

Use cinematic movement and stick to a very specific weapon set and speed range and Full Thrust works out of the box (as it were).

Take a look at Majestic 12's Iron Stars, which is fairly "naval" already, and only a little late for the period. Translating it from Edwardian scifi spaceships to Civil War brown water navy shouldn't be too much of a stretch.

Try "Raiders and Blockaders" by Titan Miniatures, very playable and easy to learn. Movement is straight forward as are turning rules. Gun fire is done with d6 and damage with d4, d6 or d10 depending on penetration, but working off the same tables. Tables are all on one player sheet.
Titan sells the game rules and 1/1200 ACW miniatures.

Iron Thunder – published in recent issues of Signs & Portents by Mongoose Publishing. Based on the same engine used for 'A Call To Arms' and 'Victory At Sea'.

It certainly fits the playability.

Yeah, just use FT. Only Beam-1s, some linked to fire together (same target only). Almost everything has Shield-2 and lots of armor boxes. Feeble manouvre.

If I could go back in time I would give you a copy of the "Mudside Thrust" rules I worked up… been so long though I've forgotten how I did it and where the file is/was.
