Anybody recommend any good books that cover the French Wars of Region? This would hopefully include battles, organization, uniformity, OOB if possible. Thanks |

Strongly suggest the book The King's Army -- it's in paperback, an added bonus. It's a superb study of the royal army of the later 16th C., so obviously focuses on the FWOR. |

Hmm, just checked and at 45 clams it's a little pricier than I thought. link By the way, Amazon is bundling it with Holt's old book, which gives more of an overview (certainly not strictly military), if that helps. |

For an overview, try Oman, History of the Art of War in the 16th Century. As a bonus, you get the Italian Wars, etc also. Dennis |

Dont think you could go wrong with the Ian Heath book form Foundry. A good overview of the armies and some nice black line plates |

The best source IMO is the Gush book on renaissance armies. While pricey and difficult to find, youcan get it through the library. Also, there is a small booklet available through On Military Matters dealing with the FWoR. It gives the typical troop types and breakdowns of the major battles. Another great source is back copy of Strategy & Tactics (#210 to be precise). It has an extremely thorough article on the FWoR. Probably the best single source of information actually. |
