I've added some pics of Alien Hunters throughout time. Our Club is looking at doing a couple Historical/Scifi blends with these minis from Copplestone:

I thought you were discussing my ex wife…

voltigeur18 Mar 2008 7:46 a.m. PST

Very nice. So how were you planning on going about it? How do you make it competitive for the human player?

Frederick Supporting Member of TMP18 Mar 2008 7:50 a.m. PST

Very nice

Hard cheese for that Russian officer, though

If you play BGWWII we got rules for the Yautya for you gaming.

Love the pic of the Indian and Yautya, that looks like it would be a good and bloody parlay.

Great stuff,

I'm using adapted rules for the Iron Ivan Games series of rules. How it shakes out is you play a normal Historical scenario between two opponents and insert the Alien Hunter into the middle as a third player. Each group has their own objectives, even the Hunter so it makes for a nice bloody, muddy mess. The Human forces will be roughly 20 models per player vs 1-2 Alien Hunters. If playing 18th Century, I think having the Hunters use only thrown or hand to hand weapons for a degree of parity. Let the Safari begin!

Spectacular. What color/s did you use for the aliens' flesh?

Predator by Lace Wars times? Really original! You should have Xposted to the 'Pirates' board, "tropical / equatorial" (coastal) jungle settings seeming specially propitious!

Looking forward to your 18th C. Mission Debriefing.

My money is on the Russian Commissar in the last two photos; well if he is a Commissar.

Very cool!

mattblackgod18 Mar 2008 11:10 a.m. PST

Nice work. Its a great way to blend Sci-Fi with historical.

Chingachgook and his Big Nasty Stick with Spike would kick the Bleeped text out of three of them Predator fellas…. ;-)

Synflood: If he is a Commissar, he is shooting in an unusual position, i.e. shooting someone from the front – for his sake, hope his Makarov doesn't jam!

Pope of the Disco18 Mar 2008 12:57 p.m. PST

Hey,
Doc used these hunters that I painted for his photoshoot. I've never posted on here before but he said someone was asking questions about the hunters. He is also the leader of our game club and I have to do what he says and he told me I could only join TMP if I used this username :o(

I painted them almost a year ago I believe and I don't remember what colors I used. I referenced a couple of my AVP comics and found that the Hunter skin tones had a range to them. Some are bluish, some are greenish, most are kind of a tan tan/cream color. I think for the greenish hunters I used and old tub of GW "Rotting Flesh" that I had and highlighted it with a lighter shade.
I made the black dot skin markings by using a super fine detail art marker. MicroPoint I think they're called.
Sorry I don't have much else to give you. I sort of stumble around this hobby learning stuff as I go, or failing that, just making stuff up.
Thanks !

voltigeur18 Mar 2008 2:28 p.m. PST

Thanks for explanation. Can I assume that you will be using "This Very Ground" for the 18th C. scenario?

The whole thing sounds like a lot of fun. I think I might have to pick up a couple of those alien hunters myself.

Doctor Merkury18 Mar 2008 4:53 p.m. PST

Yep,we will be sing "This Very Ground" for 18th C. and just using the same statistics.

Okay, I've loaded the pdf I made up covering the Hunters in the Iron Ivan Games System onto their Yahoo Group here:

You'll need to join the Yahoo Group, then in Files, Player Contributions, Alien Hunters.

Enjoy and happy hunting,

BBurger18 Mar 2008 11:06 p.m. PST

Great minds run in the same gutters – I picked up a pack of Copplestone's not-Preds over the weekend with exactly the same thought: "I can throw almost *anyone* at these guys…"

Mysterioso19 Mar 2008 5:58 a.m. PST

Pope of Disco:

They look great. The materilizing figure is superb.
Thanks for the color tips. GW's Rotting Flesh is a great tip. Dark Horse has started to digest it Predator comics so I might have to pick one up for more color ideas.

Pope of the Disco19 Mar 2008 7:03 a.m. PST

Um, well the Materializing thing wasn't me ;o)
I'd love to be able to paint a materializing Predator, but alas I'm not that good. In fact it's been said that many of my miniatures look like they've been painted with a roller ;o)
Doc Merkury takes excellent photos of our club's games and figures and works his magic with them using something he calls Photoshop with the aid of a wonderous electronical push button picture box-a-majig. He's not just a Doctor, but also an artist.

Mysterioso19 Mar 2008 8:31 a.m. PST

Ha. I thought you'd used a textured paint or something like that. I should have realized it was Photoshop as another picture had a gun firing.

Pope of the Disco19 Mar 2008 8:37 a.m. PST

Oh no that gun was totally real.
Doc is also, besides being a Doctor and Artist, a master engineer of tiny little adorable firearms. The man is brilliant, it's truly an honor to be in the same club as him.

Pizzagrenadier19 Mar 2008 5:18 p.m. PST

Yeah, until your carefully painted minis get all shot up by his troops. I was filling holes and doing touch ups for weeks after that WWII campaign game…
