I've been working on this a bit more (for Fast and Dirty rules) and come up with this. 1st Bug War (1945-52) – Bugs make landfall across Eastern Germany/Poland/Ukraine area. 1945 – Hatching of Bug Queen causes Zombie plague (okay this is mainly to get zombies into the game). Hitler eaten early on, scattered Allied, German & Russian military units fight to ensure the evacuation of the civilian population. 1946 – Bugs begin to push out from initial landing zones, gathering up bodies and zombies from surrounding area. Allied units joined by local militia and cut off German units succeed in stopping the Bug advance. German Units in the East (having established a shaky cease fire with the Russian) counter attack westward in an attempt to reach Berlin. The majority disappear without trace. Russia establishes a defensive zone to halt the bug advance. 1947 – The combined forces of mankind halt the 2nd bug offensive and in 1948 begin advancing across devastated europe, three years of fighting later the last bug hive is destroyed. 1952 – The Federation arrive to offer technical aid, informing humanity that a larger swarm is on its way to earth. The Federation aid allows the development of more advanced equipment (although the majority of units are still equipped with WW2 equipment) and tactics. 2nd Bug War (1952-55) – Federation transport units of the Alliance to several planets in the path of the swarm. Alliance units fight on these worlds to delay the swarm's advance. 3rd Bug War (1956) – Alliance space fleet defeats the advancing swarm, defending the Sol system. Small landing are made in the Continental US and Africa. Several years of bug hunts are needed to exterminate the landings. 4th Bug War (1958-62) – Alliance/Federation units begin destroying/liberating Federation worlds overrun by the Swarm. 1st Bug War – WW2 equipment 2nd Bug War – Mixed Modern/WW2 equipment 3rd Bug War – High-tech/Modern equipment 4th Bug War – High-tech. |

Hitler eaten early on LOL! Bet the bug concerned got some serious indigestion! Are the Feds extrasolar humans? |
Earl of the North | 03 Mar 2008 6:43 a.m. PST |
freewebs.com/weaselfierce FAD rules, Bug War is at the bottom of the page. I still torn between zombies or bugs getting Hitler
hmmmmm good scenario, SS commando unit parachutes into Berlin attempting to rescue Hitler, what will they find in the bunker? I'm seeing the Feds as a federation of alien races, good excuse to use some non-human figures |
Earl of the North | 03 Mar 2008 6:49 a.m. PST |
I'm then thinking of a break up of the Alliance with some of the Colonies breaking away into Nationalist factions
.good excuse again for different human factions. |

sounds like a nice mix between John Ringo's Posleen books, Harry Turtledove worldwar books, and some starship trooper bugs as the bad guys, and some brain bug zombies. |
Earl of the North | 03 Mar 2008 10:29 a.m. PST |
Thanks, pretty much what I was aiming for
how about a poll question. Should Hitler be: A. Eaten by Zombies B. Eaten by Alien Bugs C. Die from a particularly nasty paper cut D. Errrrr
.no thats about it. |

You know, I really like the crazy SS Kommando mission into the bunker. I'd let the bugs get him though. Maybe a smaller type of bug that is suitable for tunnel and trench fighting ? |
Agent Smith | 03 Mar 2008 10:59 a.m. PST |
How about D. Become a zombie (great conversion potential LOL) |
Earl of the North | 03 Mar 2008 10:59 a.m. PST |
Hmmmmm
types of bugs. Brain bugs (small attach to humans guiding them to the gatherers) Harvesters (Gather up food sources, dismembering and building stockpiles) Workers (Dig tunnels, construct hives, transport stockpiles) Warrior (Guard the hives and protect other types resource gathering) Brood Guard (Protect the Nests) Queen's Guard (Protect the Queen) Queens (Breed) I like the SS Kommando mission as well, what's that guys name, led the mission to free Mussolini
anyway he's the guy to lead that sort of mission. Glider onto the bunker, get in and grab the Fuhrer and fly out on one of those spotter planes the used for the Mussolini mission
.the perfect plan, except for the Bugs. |

Actually if you want to include some irony, have Hitler eaten by zombie concentration camp victims. |
Earl of the North | 03 Mar 2008 12:01 p.m. PST |
Well, that could be outcome if you rescue the SOB from the bunker, plane develops problems and has to land at a camp. Anyway, Hitler gets eaten, which starts the Bug Wars of on a good note. |

A. Eaten by Zombies B. Eaten by Alien Bugs C. Die from a particularly nasty paper cut D. Errrrr
.no thats about it The paper cut gave him an open wound Which get infected during a particular struggles with a Zombie causing to turn into one of them. Then while eating his staff at HQ, Bugs burst in and eat him since he eat anyone there that could defend HQ. To be seen on the Sci-Fi next month.

One thing I did wonder about is tank design, post WW2 tanks were developed along the tank killer role, would bug war tanks develop the same way? HE support and AA direct fire would seem to be of more use than developing tank killing cannons unless of course some of the bugs are big and well armoured. |
Ron W DuBray | 03 Mar 2008 6:32 p.m. PST |
yup a tank with a pod of fast firing HMG's would work better then a big main gun, for killing bugs, and AT missiles for big armored bugs. I also think this weapons mix would be very useful in todays real world. There is just something about seeing 4 20mm chine guns ripping up buildings and targets that make me feel glad they are on my side and Im behind them. |
John Leahy | 03 Mar 2008 6:59 p.m. PST |
The guys name was Skorzeny. Cool idea. Thanks, John |
Weasel | 03 Mar 2008 9:22 p.m. PST |
I imagine rapid firing large calibre AA guns would become very popular, very quickly. The Flakvierling would see a lot more use, and Im sure the design can be rigged on a PZ IV hull without too much trouble :) |

I would go for Hitler becoming a super/smart-zombie. The bugs have found the perfect native commander for their little invasion scheme. And we've got double the reasons to fight them now! |
Earl of the North | 04 Mar 2008 2:35 a.m. PST |
Skorzeny, yep thats the guy
.the super/smart zombie thing, errrr not in these rules. The bugs aren't invading there simply gathering resources, they don't see us as enemies they just want to eat us . I thought the zombie thing would be for the bugs a natural event, rather than a plan. The queens prefer their meat on the rotten side, so the hatching releases virus to zombify the locals, lots of rotten meat and on the plus side its mobile so you can herd it right to the queen. Hmmmmm maybe some Nazi Doctor can come up with a way to use the brain bugs and we could have zombie V zombie battles . Heavy on the AA guns then, makes sense. |
highlandcatfrog | 04 Mar 2008 3:45 a.m. PST |
Sounds good so far. But don't cut out the big tank guns. Think about how useful beehive rounds would be, especially on the zombies. |
