Just reread Callwell's 'Small Wars' (the 1976 fac-simile of the 1906 edition), and rediscovered the Russians campaigns in Asia by Victorian times.
This made me wonder: are 25-28mm minis suitable for 1880Tekke Turkomans and the like available? I'm not even sure Cossacks of that period (Michel Strogoff &c…) are manufactured?
Just curious, actually.

Don't think so but Askari have done Russians of the period so they may have plans…

Foundry make Turcomans in the distinctive fur cap as part of their old Afghan range. They are still in production have a look at their India range. Some of the Eureka Turkish pirates, with long coats and jezzails are a good source for some conversions.
