Does this look like crap to anyone else? link |
Pictors Studio | 28 Feb 2008 7:46 a.m. PST |
In the case of movies, just like people, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. And it generally doesn't roll uphill. |
Goldwyrm | 28 Feb 2008 7:52 a.m. PST |
The sets and special effects look a lot better than the 2nd movie by a mile. The plot and acting I'm expecting to be subpar, but it still promises to deliver some new ideas for those of us playing Starship Troopers miniature games. |
Lord Billington Wadsworth | 28 Feb 2008 7:54 a.m. PST |
Yes. Dreadful. I can't wait :D |
OldGrenadier at work | 28 Feb 2008 7:57 a.m. PST |
That looks well and truly dire. I'll have to see it. |
nvdoyle | 28 Feb 2008 8:02 a.m. PST |
"Let's go crack a planet!" *kiss* Oh, this looks awful. But at least it's got some actual bug/human fight scenes in it! (Did anyone else get the feeling that there's at least a few levels of self-parody in that?) |
Col Durnford | 28 Feb 2008 8:03 a.m. PST |
So bad it may be good. At least it looks better then the last one. Lots of bugs and lots of shooting. |
RavenscraftCybernetics | 28 Feb 2008 8:07 a.m. PST |

Monstro | 28 Feb 2008 8:13 a.m. PST |
Didnt know they made a sequel to the first one, should I skip that then? and see what the reviews say of this one? |
Black Cat Bases | 28 Feb 2008 8:13 a.m. PST |
Oh My God That looks so bad!!! I have to see it now! Hell I even enjoyed the second one so this looks cool, I Love the cartoon too. Ben |
slobberblood | 28 Feb 2008 8:18 a.m. PST |
Monstyr, The second one was populated with a bunch of porn stars and z class actors, avoid it if possible, or do what I do, use it as background noise while you paint minis
|
GoodBye | 28 Feb 2008 8:50 a.m. PST |
Now I gotta see number 2! It looks so bad it's gonna be great! |
Earl of the North | 28 Feb 2008 8:54 a.m. PST |
Pure Grade A Bull Pucky

Wolfshanza | 28 Feb 2008 9:06 a.m. PST |
Didn't even realise that they made a sequel to the first howler ? Celtic warband in space Heinlin(sp) must be turnin' in his grave <lol> |
Caesar | 28 Feb 2008 9:08 a.m. PST |
I'm looking forward to it. And if it is any good then I'll be stuck buying the second one, too (ugh). |
recon35 | 28 Feb 2008 9:09 a.m. PST |
Hold on, Slobber, the Hero has also been on Desperate Housewives as Lois Lane's Ex and the blonde is Kimber on Nip/Tuck. That should at least put them to C list, shouldn't it? |

|
Craig Grady | 28 Feb 2008 9:25 a.m. PST |
"Dix Hauser" is he a gay porn star? "See you on the bounce trooper" YIKES! I was laughing all the way through that, which means it must be better than Starship Troopers 2 already. Back to dragging my mind out the gutter! |
Dentatus | 28 Feb 2008 9:29 a.m. PST |
It's so
bad. I'm awestruck. |
Earl of the North | 28 Feb 2008 9:29 a.m. PST |
Yeah, "Dix Hauser" luckly I just put my coffee down before that came on
..with the best will in the world, it'll be crap, hopefully it'll be like the first film
enjoyable crap. |
2bit elroy | 28 Feb 2008 9:35 a.m. PST |
God I didn't even know there was a "2". |
slobberblood | 28 Feb 2008 9:52 a.m. PST |
Ok, my bad, recon35, C list it is
. But still god awful, but it did have boobies
;) |
The G Dog | 28 Feb 2008 9:52 a.m. PST |
I must not watch this trailer while eating
again. Choked on my sammich, I did. Based on the trailer it looks to fall somewhere between SST and SST 2. More bug killing
but more bad story. I'll at least RENT it
and yes, maybe even buy it. |
Rudysnelson | 28 Feb 2008 9:56 a.m. PST |
I am not sure what peole are expecting based on the overall theme of the story. A lot of bugs killing people and visa versa. Simple. It actually looks as good if not better than #1. Looks A lot better in action than #2. I will give it a chance. |
Cold Steel | 28 Feb 2008 10:03 a.m. PST |
I have only seen the first 15 minutes of ST2 and have no desire to see the rest. It is one of only a couple of movies I refused to watch to the end. ST3 has some potential. Not a lot, but to quote another movie "There is always hope." |
brotherjason | 28 Feb 2008 10:26 a.m. PST |
Taken for what the SST movies are, they are great fun. I've always liked the Federation adverts for the Mobile Infantry and Fleet. I'm looking forward to this movie, even though it will be pretty bad, it will still be fun and that's what really counts. |
Dropzonetoe | 28 Feb 2008 10:28 a.m. PST |
A lot of bugs killing people and visa versa. Simple. I don't know that concept seemed to work just fine on a little known movie called Aliens |
Extra Crispy | 28 Feb 2008 10:32 a.m. PST |
Okay, so we're on our third movie and we're still issuing these .22 caliber "takes 900 rounds to drop a bug" firearms? So far the bugs look way smarter
.. |
soulman | 28 Feb 2008 10:54 a.m. PST |
Did not look that bad at all, the guns looks 100 times better then SST. they was boxes
!! "Bring it on.." |
The Hobbybox | 28 Feb 2008 11:20 a.m. PST |
This is so gonna rock (in a 'I shouldn't watch it, but just have to!') By the way, is the 'Crack a planet!' Admiral, Amanda Donahoe (ex of LA Law)? |
chaos0xomega | 28 Feb 2008 11:22 a.m. PST |
anyone else reminded of men in black by the preview? |
BlackWidowPilot | 28 Feb 2008 11:31 a.m. PST |
Well, can't be any worse than the first one
or Plan 9 From Outer Space! Leland R. Erickson Metal Express metal-express.net "Gee, look Honey! Stupid infantry tactics again! At least the Bugs seem to know what they're supposed to be doing
" |
DemosLaserCutDesigns | 28 Feb 2008 11:33 a.m. PST |
I (ducking for cover) liked SST2, but then again there was a hot topless blond bouncing around in parts of it. I thought it was an interesting Sci-horror instead of just a plain old bug hunt. I also like the actor Richard Burgi. As for the first movie that's how I see the third movie going in quality. I still occasionally watch the first two movies when there is nothing else on TV. Which is increasing with an alarming rate and the writers strike being over. Pretty soon, I figure I, will own enough DVDs that I won't need cable. I will just create my own commericalless programing and call the station ME-TV. |
CeruLucifus | 28 Feb 2008 11:38 a.m. PST |
That looks horrible but also tongue in cheek so it could be entertaining. |
nvdoyle | 28 Feb 2008 11:38 a.m. PST |
"At least the Bugs seem to know what they're supposed to be doing…" I think the bugs are supposed to be the heroes, actually. Sorta like how Star Wars I-VI only make sense if Vader's secretly trying to off Palpatine from moment one
|
Grinning Norm | 28 Feb 2008 11:44 a.m. PST |
Ooh! We're in for a cheesefest! Must be seen. (watched SST 1 a few days ago
) |
Dances With Words | 28 Feb 2008 11:52 a.m. PST |
but
.they NEVER finished the ANIMATED 'Roughnecks:Starship Troopers Chronicles'
.. and then there was this Starship Troopers/Battlefield Evo game with metals
er, plastics
and pre-painted
erm
no
Maybe we could get SOMEONE to 'fund' the REVIVIAL of the UN-made ANIMATED version and decent 'clixies'
(ala HALO 3????)
.inspired by it
.? Hey, I can dream can't I? *slish
slish* bring your own *spork* |
Phillius | 28 Feb 2008 11:53 a.m. PST |
" Heinlin(sp) must be turnin' in his grave " Heinlin had a sense of humour, he would appreciate it. Look at all the people that read the book and thought it was about aliens and humans! |
Wolfshanza | 28 Feb 2008 12:06 p.m. PST |
"Look at all the people that read the book and thought it was about aliens and humans!" Good point "bring your own *spork*" prefer spoo, the other blue meat |
Hiromoon | 28 Feb 2008 1:23 p.m. PST |
I'm looking forward to SST 3
mostly because I liked the first two movies and get a kick out of making new things for the SST miniatures game based off them. |
Micman | 28 Feb 2008 1:27 p.m. PST |
SST 2 was in the $5 USD bin at Walmart last week. For those of us who have to have the whole series
Their coming to take me away! |
emau99 | 28 Feb 2008 1:59 p.m. PST |
I enjoyed SST quite a bit for the brain candy that it was. SST2 was just
ugh. I really *wanted* to like it, but
I'll definitely give this one a try, given the opportunity. We'll see what they do with it. |
DontFearDareaper | 28 Feb 2008 2:26 p.m. PST |
At least it will be better than SST2. It can't help but be better than SST2. Repeat as needed until movie comes out. Dave |
Bob Runnicles | 28 Feb 2008 2:54 p.m. PST |
Dix Hauser has to be a 'hollywood' name, doesn't it? Tell me no-one would actually name their kid 'Dix Hauser'. The FX for this look pretty good, and it has bugs on the spacecraft! Can you say Space Hulk? Well, -ish? |
IttyBitty | 28 Feb 2008 3:06 p.m. PST |
Oooohhhhhh, I have to see SST2, sounds absolutely awful
SST3 has Jolene Blalock in it
.FWIW It still looks awful |
Gear Pilot | 28 Feb 2008 3:12 p.m. PST |
I think 'Dix Hauser' was the character's name, since the trailer started off with naming the characters in the movie (Johnny Rico was first). |
