I ordered some figures from New Wave in Georgia and paid for them. They took my money all right but have not sent my order, and won't respond to my E-mail inquiries. I have given up on them and just wan't my money back. Any suggestions out there? Law enforcement or Consumer Affairs agencies that I can contact? It's not the thirty two bucks I got ripped off for, it's the principle of the thing. Naw, it's the money!

You should have read these first, of course for some reason, the maximum word length is shorter than a url from THIS website, so you will have to enter the before the extentions at the end of all of these news items:

so enter this

theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=

then type in each of these at the end one at a time to get the news item:

I ordered from New Wave about three years ago and they got me all the stuff I ordered . . . after 13 months.

Maybe you just haven't waited long enough . . . How old are you now?

Nukuhiva27 Oct 2003 4:10 a.m. PST

Absolutely, go back and read some of those threads, use New Wave as a resource for pictures, then buy elsewhere if you actually want something for your money - this century.

Nukuhiva that was a little harsh seeing how this is a new century. How about this decade?

Interesting poll topic: Have you been personally ripped off by New Wave?

cloudcaptain27 Oct 2003 7:34 a.m. PST

I have dealt with them in person at the warehouse here in Georgia. At any given time they employee the same archtypes. They always seem to be a bunch of apathetic and unmotivated younger teens with one older "manager" who generally has a negative attitude. I think they fired the one guy I got along with. I honestly do not think you are encountering fraud. They are just lazy, disintrested, and unorganized. The only safe way to buy from them is in person.

I have shown them the posting about their service firsthand on the PC in the warehouse. To be honest they did not seem to care much.

I second that poll topic; Have you personally been ripped off by New Wave!

I used to buy from New Wave, and never really had any problems with them, but due to the sheer number of complaints I have heard about them, I will no longer buy from them either.

If you have only tried email to contact them, I would try to give them a phone call and talk to someone personally - that always seemed to work for me.

I have talked with the local postal inspectors and this is considered MAIL FRAUD. If you have issues like this with New Wave then contact your local postal inspector and inform them of this theft, or you can fill out the online complaint form at: link

Check out the Yahoo minidealerdiscussion group. You are not alone, and there seems to be a lot of this stuff that happens with New Wave.

I ordered from New Wave once -- that was almost four years ago and I never received some of the pieces I ordered. I don't have the printouts anymore but I'll never do business with them again.

Go with Brookhurst Hobbies. Nine out of ten times you can get from Brookhurst what you can get from New Wave and sometimes even for less. NW looks pretty, but the service is horrendous and it's not worth the suffering.

JPQuinn27 Oct 2003 1:40 p.m. PST

The last time I ordered from New Wave was about a year ago... Never again! They never responded to my emails after a couple of months of non-shipment, that is until I called my credit card company to report them. I was able to get my card credited but I'll never deal with them again.

Tshannon27 Oct 2003 1:57 p.m. PST

I will respond to the question of "have you ever dealt with New Wave" by saying "no". I started seeing the rumblings of problems with them early on in the news groups and avoided them. Given the regular complaints that continued in the news groups and sites like this, I feel fortunate to have stayed away from New Wave. I don't have to stick my hand in an alligator's mouth to know that it might get bitten off.

I'll second the suggestion of filing a mail fraud complaint with the USPS. If any law enforcement agency will get after them, the postal inspectors are your best bet. They do not take fraud complaints lightly, particularly if multiple complaints are lodged against the same source.

If you paid by credit card, contest the charge with your CC company ASAP. There is a time limit inwhich you can contest charges.

I worked for a company that suplied them with merchandise - about $1500 worth. I am assuming that their payment schedule is like their shipping, because they never paid for anything. Their management did a great job at dodging phone calls too. I'll never deal with them again.

axabrax27 Oct 2003 6:08 p.m. PST

I was ripped off by New Wave about two years ago. They back-ordered half the merch I ordered and never sent it to me despite repeated e-mails, phone calls, pleas, threats, etc. As far as I'm concerned they are criminals.

My Name is Jason, and i was a New Wave purchaser...

sounds like a AA meeting. Anyhow, I purchased from them in January of this year, as they appeared to be the only supplier of female Nija's to use as Boxer Rebellion Red Lanterans (within reason). That was my first mistake. I was aware of the problems with them, so I kept an eagle eye on it. About 5 months and 5 shipments later I finally recieved everything. Of course I also racked up a small Long Distance bill too. Basically they are a pretty apathetic company. Customer Service is about the last thing on their list, and they only answer the phone and email if they feel like it that day. Fortunately Brigade Games carries most of the same figures so life goes on with no stress from New Wave.

The strangest part of their 'service' is that they seem to have really serious backorder problems with stuff all the other mail order outfits can get easily and quickly.
And if you're after some oif those 'exclusive' minis only they offer, I'd try to get in touch with the manufacturer/sculptor directly, bypassing New Wave.
Might take a while and cost extra shipping, but, as stated, at least you'll get your stuff.

Grumpel28 Oct 2003 6:37 a.m. PST

I have personally seen New Wave report Excelsior models as "back ordered" for weeks at a time when a call to the Excelsior offices revealed that New Wave had no pending order what so ever. I honestly think they just make up whatever story they think will get an angry customer off the phone. It's really pathetic. I can't figure out how they stay in business.

Dadovitch28 Oct 2003 8:22 a.m. PST

Thanks everyone for the advice! I'll never order from New Wave again, and we'll see if I ever get my order or money back.

notmember28 Oct 2003 1:17 p.m. PST

I'll say this. I recently recieved two orders without problem from CoolMiniorNot which, I understand, is associated with New Wave. A lot of the problems with ordering from companies like New Wave is that they do not have the miniatures in stock when you order, all appearances to the contrary. It's always better to order directly from the manufacturer.

Cheers

Hello, I am an idiot. I ordered minis and recieved nothing but grief. I now am taking personal enjoyment in calling the company everyday and asking Rick where my stuff is. If this doesn't inspire him to push the order through, I will up the calls to twice a day. For fifty bucks, I will call, and send emails, and contact the BBB, and postal inspectors and whoever else I need to for resolution.
